Honestly, I’m more angry about the meme creator thinking that Super Mario Bros. was 1972.
1972 Mario would’ve been a literal room-size machine
There are actually very few games overall where you jump on enemies.
Assassin creed series
Church climbing simulator?
this is the real reason why the people of lemmy hate the industry
That’s right because playing Dark Souls, I had to insert my sanity in the coin slot every time I died and it said Thanks Obama.

Ah yes the torture boss fight.
At least on the first time or two.
Wonderful mod, that one
Yeah I got a good giggle out of it.
Philomena Cunk on video games
movies and tv shows are pretty simple – you had charlie chaplin and leave it to beaver and then the last of us on HBO.
i have a private school/ivy league education in film theory btw. i’m short for time, so excuse the grammer.
Craig Mazin never said this at all. The closest source I could find on it is a seemingly bot generated article about a sarcastic tweet that someone made about him.
As far as I’m concerned Pong is the ONLY video game worth playing.
Pretty simple they hit the ball in your direction, you hit it back.
Truck simulator 2012 changed that.
You’re clearly missing the intricacies of the game. Not to mention the whole cold war story arc. I’d suggest educating yourself before replying…/s
I thought it was a simple football game with only the goalies and bouncy walls. But clearly it’s much more than that
all downhill from there… not
It went back and forth.
yup
Hahahaha yes!
I got pretty fed up with always needing change to play Counter Strike.
The showrunner of TLOU was also the head writer for the game.
It was the other showrunner, Craig Mazin, who said this. He doesn’t work in vidya gaems Though I can’t find the original source where he said it. So could be a shitpost.
According to google, this popular meme is entirely fictional.
I do not trust google but i am skeptical all around
Edit with the real quote that inspired this:
“They didn’t shoot anything out of their eyeballs. They were just people. And that, in and of itself, is remarkably rare in games”
Combined with calling tlos “the greatest story that has ever been told in video games”
The Last of Sus?
Things have changed significantly since Super Mario Bros. was released. For example, vast majority of video games released these days feature no senseless violence toward turtles. Many even portray turtles in factual, chilly way! 🐢
Now they eat strawberries gaily
A part of me really does want to get onboard with the “there isn’t enough representation of women in video games” train, but I just love looking at dudes’ bums.
It’s frustrating how people in charge are so far away from reality.
Remember when Kathleen Kennedy said that writing for Star Wars is hard because there aren’t any books and comics?
There are Star Wars books and comics??
She can’t have said that.
Hate to break it to you, but…
There’s no Disney source material
This explains so much.
What the ACTUAL fuck?
Can’t use material you don’t own, if your primary interest is money.
No books or comics*
*That we own the rights to
So on one hand, that reads to me like she meant “we are not pulling from the existing comics or books”, as opposed to “we are unaware of them”.
On the other hand, Darth Caedus (aka Jacen Solo) might have something to say about Kylo Ren being an “original concept” that “was not pulled from the books or comics”.
Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow was slated to write and direct Episode IX before you brought J.J. Abrams back in. Is this final entry in the trilogy a particularly hard nut to crack?
Every one of these movies is a particularly hard nut to crack. There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels. We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be.As bad as that last movie was, I’m still glad Colin Trevorrow want allowed anywhere near it. There are few directors who are that out of their depth when given a big budget…
What the Michael A. Stackpole is she on about?
Lol what? That’s like saying drawing is hard if there’s no connect the dots
I have a biased take here, but:
It’s so much worse than that. It’s like saying “We can’t trace any completed connect the dots drawings” when there were 200 already completed connect the dots drawings specifically based on Star Wars.
I would kill to have a Darth Bane movie trilogy or two movies based on Revan. There’s even a Star Wars zombie book they could have turned into a movie at the height of the zombie media craze for crying out loud.
Horribly, horribly mismanaged.
Two zombie books, one set during the Old Republic and then another set during the Imperial era. Both are pretty solid, though I’d give the crown to death troopers since I get some real Dead Space vibes from it.
It is like she is saying filming Lord of the Rings was hard because there were no books to start from.
It’s like hearing someone say “there were no strong female leads in movies before the Hunger Games”
Sigourney Weaver enters the chat
Sucker Punch came out a year before
Steady on now!
I was about to post that. Thanks for saving me the trouble.
Ellen Ripley enters the chat
“Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?”
Nuke the site from orbit
Yes I’m pretty sure her actress replied to that. At least in the screenshot that was posted here, no idea if it was real or not
Foxy Brown looks on from the back of the bus.
i love how it says 1972 while showing the original super mario bros
Anyone else with fond 1970s memories of finding the parents’ lock to the coinbox of the home NES?
