On Tuesday, a widely cited psychologist took to YouTube to raise the alarm regarding “more highly concerning behavior” from President Donald Trump. According to Dr. John Garrison, Trump’s recent actions suggest “steep neurological decline” and a dangerously “manic-like state.”
Garrison began by playing a clip from a recent Fox News interview, in which Trump declared that the price of oil is “going to go down like a rocket.” According to Garrison, “There were two neurological issues in this very short clip, both of them verbal. One is that he’s having speech planning issues, saying ‘going down like a rocket.’ Obviously, that’s combining phrases. He’s having a hard time organizing his thoughts. And second is an involuntary vocalization.” Here Garrison replays the clip, noting an abrupt sound Trump makes, explaining, “The pathways that deal with language are disrupted. We are seeing serious issues with language with President Trump.” What’s more, Garrison asserts that such vocalizations are “relatively new.”
In the interview, Trump begins talking about the midterm elections, saying, “I’m going to campaign like I did for myself and I’m going to hope that people think that I’m on. And if I’m not on, if they don’t go out and vote, if they go out and vote, we’re going to win easily.” As Garrison notes, “What he’s saying makes absolutely no sense. He cannot organize his thoughts. He gets confused and he believes what he’s saying is coherent. But it truly makes no sense.” According to Garrison, this struggle with verbal planning can be evidence of underlying “neurological issues.”
Here Garrison points to Trump’s pupils, which have remained dilated throughout the interview. “Trump is in a very bright room for this interview,” says Garrison. “You can see the lights actually reflecting off of his eyes, and what should be happening is that his pupils should be constricting rather than dilating because when there’s too much light in a room, your pupils get smaller, not bigger.” According to Garrison, “Dilated pupils like this can be from a wide variety of reasons, but it’s not just something that happens,” and likely culprits include medication for something like incontinence, Parkinson’s disease, or seizures.
…
There’s still room for him to decline?
until he is either dead or in a vegetative state there will be room for decline
And he wont lose a single vote
To be fair, that’s not true at all. Only 30% of the primary electorate are his base, evangelicals mostly, other religious nutjobs, business dickheads, and so forth.
It’s a lack of a seeming alternative that is the problem. But no, don’t listen to me, I’m sure Jeffries and Schumer will right the ship of state! /s
I mean, I don’t disagree Jeffries and ol’ Chuck are screwing up bigly, but when election day comes - debate has ended y’know? It’s trump or not.
Last election I was really disappointed with some people who couldn’t face the thought of voting against trump. People who presumably were immediately and lastingly oppresse by his brand of incompetent fascism.
While I’ve always shared that sentiment to some degree, I’ve always known it was doomed to fail without a change in party. It’s become all too obvious that the people that rejected voting all along, were right all along, I hate to say it.
And I say it as someone the encourages people to vote and always votes, against the worse candidates.
But let’s not lie to ourselves, unless we get better candidates the non voting people are not entirely wrong. It means nothing in the medium let alone long term, we end in the same place with the controlled opposition in power every other cycle.
I hear you, but the ‘better candidates’ phase was the last year culminating in the recent primaries and there was approximately zero chatter on Lemmy about that. There was 100% more chatter about a certain mayor of a large city where most of us don’t live.
This is either ignorance of the local politics or standard-issue laziness, and it usually manifests as ‘all politicians are terrible; i refuse to vote’, which we should know by now is support for the fascists currently in power. In fact that’s how we got here to start.
So no, I disagree that the non voting people weren’t entirely wrong - they were entirely wrong, and expecting their favored candidate to magically show up on the ballot without any pre-primary support doesn’t change that totals in Congress make a huge difference as so many items fall along party-line votes.
If they choose to abandon democracy entirely- ok. Then they abandon the notion that change can or should happen. Because that’s how change happens at a national, societal level, right?
Being dead or in a vegetative state both seem to be viable states for holding office in America.
Yes.
He should not be in that chair, and every day that republicans enable and
warshipworship him is both abuse and gross misconduct.warship
If somebody wants to warship him, I’m not getting in the way. Those things are dangerous.
And we see how they played it with Mitch McConnell, so I’m guessing they’ll pull the same shit with Trump. Even the dems did this with Feinstein. So it’s really par for the course in this broken system. Will be interesting to see how cool they can play the game and pretend not to be worried this guy has his fingers on the nukes.
Remember, whenever you hit rock bottom, you can always find a trap door somewhere.
He shouldn’t have even been allowed to run, and Aileen Cannon should be in prison right next to him.
Been reading articles like this since 2015, pretty sure Trump is going to live to be 115 years old the way it’s going
It started in 2015; the articles and commentators pointed out the famous longitudinal study of nuns that found that loss of vocabulary was one of the early indicators of dementia, and that his vocabulary had noticeably shrunk (“big” and “beautiful” taking over for many other adjectives). It was during his first term that somebody pegged it as frontotemporal dementia specifically.
Keep in mind the difference between “he’s dying” and “he’s lost it.” With this form of dementia, a person’s life expectancy after (early) diagnosis can be many years. Six or seven years from the first clear symptoms to the stage we see now is not atypical. I’m not a doctor, but my educated guess is that he won’t croak for several years yet, especially with an elite medical team providing treatment, but he probably won’t be coherent enough for a third term, even by MAGA standards of coherency.
I mean, the ghost of McConnell is still holding office and we’ve basically just moved past that as a country. I think they could run Trump’s leaky corpse and it would be a close election (even if it was a fair and real election)
I lost someone close to me to frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He was relatively young at onset: early 50s. He started forgetting tasks at work and getting lost driving on routes he’d frequently taken before. From the time of diagnosis until his death was about seven years. It was a horrendous experience seeing him decline like that. He rapidly lost his ability to speak. Shame the progression hasn’t gone that way with Trump. It seems Pig Boy is having the other common form of FTD, where the first thing to go besides memory is inhibitory functions.
but he probably won’t be coherent enough for a third term, even by MAGA standards of coherency.
The Republicans will do what everyone does when the President is incapable of preforming the duties of political office.
The Staffers will run the Country or maybe the VP will run the Country.
In fairness, he has been in decline since before the presidential run and we have seen him get worse in front of our eyes.
Only the good die young.
That’s because anger/resentment is a great motivator to live.
I’ve been saying 102. You’re even more pessimistic
He’s obese, so by today’s standards, he’s incredibly unlikely to make it to 100.
Then again, as he’s clearly done a deal with the devil, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the rare exception.
Breaking news of his sharp decline have been filling the YouTube airwaves every week for the last 2 years, maga has been fracturing every other day, his allies have turned on him every 24 hours and his administration has been on the verge of collapse every refresh of the algorithm.
I will say though it does seem like his supporters are falling fast. The most ardent supporters of his I know have suddenly been saying very negative things about him
There’s also a dude who had a huge trump sign in his yard for years, like a big wooden one he clearly made himself. He took it down.
Another guy had a huge FJB and a bunch of pro trump signs outside like real crazy anti vax kinda shit, a lot of them. All gone.
Not saying they’re all done but they’re clearly showing signs of regret and embarrassment. Hammer the shame now while we can and maybe they’ll keep themselves shut the fuck up for the next 10-20 years
The regret and embarassment won’t last long past orange’s dying. Watch them jump onto the next puppet, the problem isn’t just the current figurehead, it’s always been who’s behind him actually driving the machine, and the 77M idiots who supported him and who are your neighbors, because they bought into what orange represents and they will defend the next one by comparison (won’t be hard to find a more mentally competent dude than 47…)
I live in one of the reddest counties in one of the reddest states in the south. When I say it’s red, I mean registered GOP outnumbers all of the rest of the registered voters here almost 2:1.
You still see them on trucks occasionally, but I’ve not seen a Trump flag or sign on a house in over 6 months. One house on the route to take my kid to work has taken their Trump flag down after having it up since 2015 and replaced it with an American flag.
Which is kind of interesting since the mid terms are coming up. I wonder what the results will be. 4 weeks to go.
10-20 months is optimistic. 10-20 weeks is more likely.
Those same people were foaming at the mouth about how Bush was Jesus. Those same people were foaming at the mouth that Obama would build mandatory mosques and force them into hijabs.
They forget their own bullshit as soon as they stop spewing it.
More like 10 years
Yeah but has he been SLAMMED by a milquetoast center left politician yet? Has he been BLASTED by a journalist asking a softball question? Once we start seeing those headlines, things will change for sure!
I skip anything where the description or title uses words like SLAMMED, DESTROYS, SHREDS, SCORCHES EARTH (just saw one of these) because they never really do.
Don’t forget MELTDOWN and PANICKING!
Another favorite “Drops Mic” 🤮
Well, he does turn on his allies about every 24 hours, but for reasons I will never understand some other sucker fills the role immediately.
It’s happening now bro!
Person with ears and eyes finds Trump is a narcissist with dementia, ~33% of the population don’t give a fuck.
Jesus could roll out of the clouds and disavow this pedo / rapist, and they’d call him a false prophet.
They’d probably crucify him again.
He has not progressed. He has always been insane and a pedophilic rapist. People laughed at the time, but his own quote of saying, “I am a very stable genius” is something only a very unhinged person could even think of saying.
Every trait people are worried about now is what everyone that was labeled as having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” have been warning about and calling out for a DECADE
Pedophile? Yes. Rapist? Absolutely. But you can’t tell me the giant diaper baby hasn’t “progressed.” Watching him campaign for his first term is like watching a different person with the same script. The content was still heinous, but it was delivered with more competence and coherence. Now, he stumbles, mumbles, goes off track even more. He’s progressed, he’s not well, and should never have been seen as competent for this second term. He is a puppet. A loud puppet, putting on a show, while strings are being pulled in the background.
And this is him on the most expensive, the newest, the best, and the most experimental medicine the world has to offer to slow the decline.
And that really is a sign of our current knowledge of how to treat issues in the brain. Humans are very good at surgery and some well known and well used medications, but are very bad at the brain.
No. He has never been coherent and has always communicated at a fourth grade level. All he could do was insult people and shamelessly lie. He also never had any coherent points on policy or any answers beyond general, one word adjectives, “strong”, “bad”, “rigged”, etc. We all found it funny because it was so outside the norm that we didn’t take it seriously.
This is deliberate and, as ANOTHER Nazi point, exactly the Public relations path that Hitler had.
Somebody called him a “veritable genius,” but he didn’t know that word, so he heard “very stable,” and had to tell everybody.
Same with Excursion for Incursion, Bigly for Big League, etc. He’s profoundly ignorant, and virtuosically incompetent.
Isn’t there some kind of protocol for when the guy in charge is malfunctioning?
The vice president has to invoke the 25th amendment and then needs a majority of the cabinet. The president can fight it and then it takes a supermajority in both houses to not get kicked out.
So not going to happen. There was speculation for a bit if the reason for a Trump/Vance ticket (to everyone but Trump) was that the campaign and superpacs were betting on a 25th and Vance taking over.
Well yes, but the thing about Republicans is that they don’t have to follow any rules. He could pull a Mitch McConnell and nothing would be happening.
Yep! But it is 100% based on the honor system and people in power making choices that benefit the people instead of their own wallets. So we have one but it effectively no longer exists
Agreed. We’re ruled by evil people and their shitty cult.
Let’s pray for another Jonestown event but…bigger.
Not in a dictatorship, no.
At this point, a dead Mitch McConnell is more effective at governing than Trump.
Yeah, I think so too. Vance, Vought, Miller, Heritage Foundation et al. are propping up a president with dementia because it’s to their advantage with regards to implementing their radical-conservative agenda.
They aren’t conserving anything. It’s just fascism.
to be precise, it’s authoritarian oligopoly. Fascism has a few key characteristics missing from this - mainly the threat of worker’s revolt/communism and a large amount of war veterans moving away from liberalism.
Doesn’t mean it’s not disgusting and shouldn’t be overthrown immediately. But 20th century European fascism has a different context.
It’s just fascism,
They don’t conserve anything,
And the whole cult cheered!
We’ve let death cultists chose policy for us for decades, so how is a death cultist with his own cult a significant departure from our standards?
Any true death cultist will tell you: all the other death cults are fucking lunatics.
Can it decline into a fatal aneurysm or heart attack? Please, Santa?
Christmas is too long. Can we ask, eh, the Equinox… Elf?
Or maybe he’s a moron and a ¢unt, just like he’s always been.
you can say cunt. He’s a cunt.
No, I cannot. The instance auto moderates.

He’s a fucking cunt…Can I say fucking cunt?
Instance automoderation.

Maybe he was talking about a SpaceX rocket?
Whatever. Doesn’t matter till he’s dead or gone. Preferably both. Tired of being hope baited into thinking any of this will lead to a measurable outcome.
“It don’t matter. None of this matters.” -Carl Brutananadilewski
Not just him - the ideal is that MAGA will simply collapse without their leader. The issue with that is we’ve already cemented a LOT of power into the executive in just a few years. Trump could drop dead tomorrow and despite having the charisma of an open can of surstromming, I think Vance would be able to hold onto power just through an overwhelming tide of repression. Trump’s caught up with people loving him - Vance, I think, doesn’t care if people hate him.
I think it’s important for the midterm elections. It’s important that folks who care, get out and vote.
Yes, I’m SURE the Democrats will spring into action! Chuck Schumer is gonna put his glasses SO far down his nose once he’s majority leader . . .
Voting matters 100%. Another article saying he’s on the verge of death is what I’m lamenting.
Exactly. I came here to say the same thing: Tell me when he’s dead.
Smith
he’s still your president
you elected him
he’s what represents your country
he’s a stupid child rapist
Another European who thinks having a bigoted view of all Americans somehow makes them better than the bigoted Americans. Idiots.
you think if someone is not american they’re european?
stupid yankees…
anyways, how is pointing out you elected him bigoted?
you did elect him and he is your president
European was the easiest guess without having to learn more about you ( something I have zero interest in based on your negativity) Obviously the point was that you are blaming every American for the actions of a cult. You are not better than me because you have the privilege of not living here. You are definitely not better than the people who voted for him because the way you speak is just fucking like them, ignorant as fuck.
Removed by mod
Accusing me of not reading is hilarious. You clearly didn’t read what I wrote or you don’t have language comprehension skills to deduce reasoning. If you can’t see the problem with blaming every American for the actions of the people who actually DID elect them, then you are part of the problem…part of the problem that affects the human species as a whole, not just the people behind certain boundaries. Calling me gay doesn’t really hurt someone who has sucked dozens of dicks btw.
also, did I call you gay or haven’t you read?
Um yeah you definitely insinuated that was and thought I would be offended by that. Do you think you can just twist the words until you squirm your way out of looking stupid?
I didn’t say you personally voted for him, I said you elected him, thus the importance of knowing how to read
and yes you did elect him
you guys bomb countries, kill innocent fishermen, steal ressources, kidnap presidents
but god forbid I tell you Donald Trump is your president, that would be “negative”
Removed by mod
no one else in the world would be this insulted and jump to defend their country after being told their president was elected
no one exept americans
you hate your own peers so much you don’t even consider the president as your president
I repeat, no one in the world acts this way
Why would I give af what other people act like in other countries with completely different lifestyles? Again you are using Trump supporter logic. I never said i was insulted because you said he was elected or whatever the fuck you are trying to say with your word twisting. I said I was insulted because you lump every American in with Trump supporters. Yes I do hate my peers THAT much (and now you too) because they are sub human scum who are in a cult. I hate them so much I want the entire cult to do a re-creation of what happened with the cult in Jonestown (look it up you ignorant European) see doesn’t feel so good for someone to assume your intelligence level based off of geography, does it? Serious question…Do you think being a p.o.s in another country somehow makes you better than the pieces o.s. in my country? Have you ever heard the phrase, “You take yourself wherever you go.”? I bet you have and I bet you despise that phrase as much as I despise the way you and all the other biggots of the world think. And yes I know you are not European and no I still don’t care where you are actually from.
eh, to be fair to USA people even though they are the worst people on earth, their elections are corrupt and fixed by the way they draw districts and manipulate ballots. It isn’t a democracy in any meaningful way.
They never needed him compos mentis to execute their plans. Just alive and filling the chair.
Looking at the Mitch McConnell situation, they don’t even necessarily need him to be alive.
I’d be surprised they don’t weekend at Bernies trump for however long they can get away with it.
