Can you imagine if he did a fraction of any of this, the detractors from the right are just made of fury and idiocy, but they would have been far more justified about something like this than a black man wearing a tan suit.

Ford is complying with dear leader while dear leader is actively fucking Ford by cutting trade with Canada.

I used to work in automotive manufacturing. The amount of parts to build cars cannot come from just America. It’s impossible.

Trump is beating the shit out of Ford and they’re just standing there asking for more.

Silver lining though, cars will get more expensive, which might spur more public transit. Heh… at the very least it will make walkable places a little more desirable.

Oh cars will get more expensive, but you think America will lean towards public transit? Auto manufacturers will just bitch and moan about how they can’t sell their $145,000 entry level sedan, and the government will just bail them out with your tax money.

What, you don’t want to pay $1500 a month for a Ford Focus?

Ford doesn’t sell the Focus anymore because the US hates reasonably sized vehicles.

        Parts yes. Cars no.

It is in Ford’s best interest to keep other forgien cars out of the US. If Americans were really free to shop forgien cars the US car companies would all go under.

Trump will keep out “bad forgien cars”

Tairiffs are just a cost they pass down to consumers when there are no other options for the consumer other than domestic cars built with tariffed parts.

They know what they are doing.

Geico fired R. Lee Ermey because he gave a speech claiming Obama was bankrupting the country on purpose so he could bring socialism to the US. Just saying.

I truly don’t understand that line of reasoning. At all.

Putting aside ideological stances on economic and social structures, how does someone reason that the country being broke makes socialism more achievable?

If I can remember correctly (and I probably can’t) I think they figured Obama would cause mass unrest, bankrupt the country with insane economic policies, then use that as excuse to implement martial law, then use that to pass a law that says we do socialism now.

I’m pretty sure I remember that rhetoric going around during Biden too.

While I agree with the sentiment, there’s always 1 person who says something really racist or something and does get into trouble, but usually gets a bunch of right wing support too.
Edit: Google search mentions several, including Ferguson police officer being extremely racist, a teacher also being racist calling Michelle a gorilla, a NY police officer got a mere 60 days for a slur and suggesting the president “go die in a shallow grave.”

The overall point stands that they did way worse than someone calling out the truth, but right wing defenders will definitely say it happened with Obama too.

Ah he’s only suspended and a union member. I heard that the suspension will likely be short (3 days was the figure someone in the same union said on the other site). I’m sure we’ll hear all about it if he is actually fired.

Mad props to him for seeing his opportunity, realising it was once in a lifetime and grabbing it with both hands.

He wasnt just a fuckin open Nazi, Hitler practically wrote him a goddamn Love Letter in Mein Kampf.

Ford also financially supported the Nazi Party in its early days

Also received the highest medal and honors that could be bestowed to a foreigner, from Nazi Germany.

Then, in 1942, when such things started reflecting badly on him, he suddenly went “oh no no no, Thats not me, I hope this whole business ends with world peace and love amongst everyone”

He is a national fuckin disgrace.

It’s slightly more complicated than that. Still doesn’t make him look good but it’s more nuanced.

He was a Nazi and flagrant racist before Nazi was the unequivocally negative descriptor we think of it as today.
He thought Nazism was right for America the same way he thought square dancing would keep away the blacks and that the Jews would be undercut if he did car financing without banks.

He was awful and a patriot, so when Germany went to war with America he was unequivocally in favor of destroying the Germans.
He still agreed with them on everything else.

I could just imagine some rando touring the White House, and they stumble across him. They start out so excited. Go in saying:

Oh wow! Look at that! It’s the president! It’s great to me you, President Pedophile. Oh. My mix up. I mean, President Insurrectionist. Oh fuck, slip of the tounge! I’m just so nervous. Ha-ha! President Trump! It’s a pleasure to meet the Rapist-in-Chief. Oh fuck. There I go again.
