I remember kids with meter long rip cords and giant knock offs and extra large metal disks that terrorised the playground back in the day lol. There were also kids with knock off metal disks with flints that spark when 2 bayblades hit each other so that was cool.

I remember one kid saying he was going to attach razor blades or sharpen the fins on his Beyblade. I also remember seeing him crying the nurse’s office the next day with his hand bandaged.

Knew a guy who sharpened his fingernails before a fight. Realized his mistake when he hit someone with his fist and cut himself up. Poor planning .

I remember those fake beyblades that were completely made out of metal. Those things were dangerous. Never used my original beyblades against those death machines.

      The duality of man -

Wholesome: dad gets involved with his kid’s hobby and helps him win

Not wholesome: kid shows up to play with a rigged beyblade someone else made for him, in order to participate in a one-sided competition, predictably breaking the other kid’s toy

As a kid, my friends also realized this. We started using glue guns to glue more weight disks on our beyblades. It turned into an arms race lmao. It didn’t get super crazy since people didnt own that many beyblades but I do remember i had a beyblade with 3 weight disks.

Its funny. I had never heard of Beyblades before last year. A kid/young man came it with his improved beyblades designs he had done in tinkercad. I helped him with how to 3d print them. Somewhere he still competes with them. He is twenty or so.

My young colleagues (early 20s, I’m in 40s) found some real cheap beyblades in nearby Lidl, set up an arena and started fighting at breaks. They asked if we could 3d print custom parts. I’m not that interested in participating but I’m very interested in engineering the shit out of them.

When I was a kid, my parent found some cheap china beyblade kit box, it came with random stuff to make beyblade. One of the stuff was kinda heavy metal core and it had 4 small plastic bits sticking out, and they CUTS. I fucked up couple of my other beyblades before I notice the damages.
