The most important thing to take out of this:

He knows it’s bad for his inevitable presidential run he’s been focusing on, but he has to do what his wealthy donors want so they keep donating.

If he manages a first term, he’ll still do shit like this, because he needs his donors for term 2.

We need a legit grass roots candidate, because when they keep their donors happy, that’s doing what’s good for average Americans.

If we keep worrying about keeping political donors happy, we’ll never reform anything; that’s the exact opposite of what they want and will do everything to stop it.

Once he gets in office it’ll be, “we need something to campaign on next election” every time reform comes up. On his final term, he’ll say, “if the party is going to earn votes for my successor, I need to play ball this term,” then the cycle will repeat itself.

    Billionaire math

Average USA billionaire has about $7b in wealth.

    2026 * 365 ‎ = 739,490

    $7,000,000,000 / 739,490‎ = $9,465.98

You would need to make $9k per day, for 2026 years, to catch up to the average billionaire wealth right now.

It’s estimated in 2026 that it would cost $37b to end world hunger until 2030.

Also note that Musk, Bezos, and other extreme billionaires are up to 100x of the average here ($700b for Musk). Who is making $900k per day?

This is not natural, it’s not rational, and it’s completely bullshit. You can come up with whatever distraction you want (“wealth & income aren’t the same”), but we should be taxing every dollar above $1b at 99% or higher.

    30 years * 365 day = 10,950

    $1,000,000,000 / 10,950 ‎ = $91,324.20

I could easily live off of $91k per DAY for 30 YEARS.

If you put these numbers against a human time scale we can understand, I don’t see the argument for this level of wealth, especially not as people go hungry, without clothes or food, and children die.

Shit, $91k is more than double what I make ANNUALLY, and I’m not starving by any means. These hoarding pieces of shit need to go.

For years, I’ve heard people say, “What? You want to outlaw wealth?”

This level of wealth? Yes. Tax it at 99% above 1bn.

You won the money game. Stop playing it. Help society.

My long standing belief is that if you hit $100M of wealth, you should get a nice fancy trophy that says “congratulations on winning capitalism”, along with a 100% tax on all future income.

He also vetoed a bill that would have kept private equity out of primary care so keeping a primary care physician has been a nightmare in California ever since. He gave PG&E a pass for murdering over 800 people in paradise because they were neglecting maintenance for shareholder profits. PG&E hiked our rates 6 times this year with his cronies approval and they made record profits. He’s slimy and part of the problem. Don’t ever forget that these evil Nazi tech bros came out of California and were enabled by him in his political career every step of the way.

And this here is key. Every one of those Silicon Valley “techbro” sleazy rapists are where they are today because of corporate USAmerica. Silicon Valley empowered Trump and pushed Vance to be their VP. Silicon Valley is fully to blame platforming Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation.

I mean really, it was Biden and the Clinton’s doing the 96 telecom act…

They desperately needed something to point to that neoliberalism worked. Most people who supported neoliberalism did it because of:

        1. The dotcom boom helping the economy.

        2. The reduction in crime.

1 would have happened no matter what, but neoliberals took credit and said the only reason it happened was not taxing the wealthy.

2 also would have happened without their crime bill, the only effect was the same ever country saw a generation after banning leaded gas.

Neoliberalism has never worked, and it will never work. They just take credit for anything good that happens.

As is already well known for most, USA only has 2 right wing parties, Democrats that are “normal” right wing. and Republicans that are extreme right wing, and has gone more and more insane over the past few decades.

There can be no doubt among normal reasonable people, that the wealth of the richest people in USA is insane now, and needs to be reigned in.

Of course an annual federal tax to achieve this would be preferable, but since that obviously isn’t happening anytime soon, it is up to the states. No one needs to have $1 billion, no one even needs a tenth of that.
The rich are so sociopathic they believe they are entitled to this, and then they call people working 2 jobs entitled for wanting a living wage and healthcare!

It’s disgusting that this has become normalized, it is not normal! It is sociopathic, and only a sociopathic society would allow this, and at the same time have extreme poverty. This is not about making an efficient economy, it’s 100% about the sick entitlement of the rich.

Under normal circumstances, sure. If it’s Gavin vs. Trump then I assume you’ll vote for Gavin. Step 1 is get rid of Trump, step 2 is find a candidate that’s actually good. If we can do both simultaneously then that would be wonderful.

With a corprocrat in charge, the republic will be pushed towards collapse and the same violent thugs working for ICE will be cracking skulls before long. They will doom America to fascism or civil war, and the only way you will ever get stability lasting more than a few years is by taking control from them.

Trump will never leave office alive, so give up on an election against him. When there is a choice, you’ll be voting for a JD Vance style Republican who is actually the puppet people seem to think Trump is, or you’ll be voting for a Democrat. If that Democrat is a coastal elite who was only rejected by the fascists because Trump didn’t like him, you’ve already lost. The Democrat will have a better chance in the general regardless, so it’s primary or bust.

Oh yeah, you also need progressives to dominate in 2022 and 2024 down ballot, while the rich only need a king loyal to their corruption.

Gavin is such a god damn chode motherfucker. Democrats are limp-dicked bitches that keep voting to allow themselves to be constantly be cucked by these corporate-fascist democrats, or allow Republicans to continue to convince them banning guns and remaining unarmed while asking politely will convince conservatives to stop being Christian fascists.
