A congresswoman said she plans to file articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday, sparking fury from protesters and condemnation from Democratic leaders.

“I will be filing Articles of Impeachment against Kristi Noem. I’ve had enough. She has turned ICE into a rogue force, violating the Constitution, tearing families apart, and leaving death in her wake,” U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, an Illinois Democrat, announced on X.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was identified as the woman fatally shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis during the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown, a killing federal officials said was carried out in self-defense in response to an “act of domestic terrorism.” Videos captured by bystanders showed Good’s vehicle driving toward an agent and turning to speed away when the officer shot into the vehicle multiple times.

        no

        That’s not true at all.

In Idiocracy, the president and his cabinet put their smartest people (well, person) in charge with zero pushback and listened to and trusted expert opinion. When a policy failed (Brawndo went out of business and took the economy with it), there was swift punishment for those directly responsible, and when policy succeeded (crops were growing), they quickly pivoted and elevated those responsible. In Idiocracy, the most competent people were put in charge.

What we have is MUCH worse; people stupid and short-sighted enough to destroy everything in the name of ego and greed, and just smart enough to be successful in their destruction of our societies, governments and planet.

I would much rather be in Idiocracy if I’m being honest. At least those people were trying their best; can’t fault them for that.

Exactly this. Only difference is Joe and Rita got a good ending, one I don’t think we’re going to get.

Reality eventually catches up to everybody, no matter how strong the cult; the Devil always overplays his hand.

The question is are we willing to buck up and start writing the rules for a game that beats whatever MAGA is playing? Or are we just going to whine cynically that everything is awful and there’s no hope and we’re all doomed?

People don’t fucking get it. Democracy is fucking over. There is no changing minds and getting 'em on the next election. Trump was wildly unpopular after J6. Project 2025 was wildly unpopular. This is a coup. They stole the election in '24 just like they tried to do in '20, and did do in '16. We have an unelected dictator in the White House. He’s not going to leave willingly. Why do you think they’ve turned everything up to 11? They have no intention of leaving. Not willingly anyway, and they don’t give a flying fuck about the will of the people. Think about it, do you really think even 30% of this country is Maga? Yes, obviously you have your moron uncle and his idiot kid here and there, but the silent majority was never fucking real. It was a vocal minority amplified by bots and trolls which we saw recently with the Twitter location scandal pointing out that all the prominent maga accounts are in fucking Swaziland or some other bullshit country.

Joe Biden’s DOJ letting this traitor back into the White House is very likely the end of our Republic as we know it. We’ve been waiting over a year almost for someone to step up and do something, but it’s not happening. Mark my words, the only way Donald leaves the presidency is in a box (be it by natural causes or otherwise) and when that happens, more sycophants will take his place. We aren’t getting out of this by marching peacefully in the streets. They just blasted someone in the face for doing less than that. I honestly don’t know how we get out of this, and I fucking hate it.

A lot of what you say seems true. I’m still voting straight ticket democrat in every election until Trump and the various MAGA iterations are out of office. Even for dinky local elections; Township Comptroller? Fuck the Republican candidate. Uncontested Republican? I’m writing in Barack Obama. If you’re running as a republican, you’ve lost my vote.

Optimistic of you to assume that the DNC leadership is capable of learning.

After all, they’re still laser focused every election on chasing the “Republican who doesn’t automatically vilify anyone with a D behind their name” voting bloc, which is 7 or so people by now.

Well. Robin Kelly filed the articles.

We’ll see what happens, but I suspect Mike doesn’t know about any of this, either.

If she is impeached, they’re going to do the same thing as with the court order against Lindsay Halligan. They’re going to ignore the order until forced.

Oh no. Impeachment threat. Everything will get so much better when she will be replaced by another, wonderfully sane person. Provided that she will be impeached, which she most certainly will after murder No. 47263

No. Every bit counts. Of course this one thing doesn’t mean you can lean back and claim the problem is solved. There is many different ways of fighting back, and they all need to be employed.

Still dreaming of a thing named “Justice”? Keep on dreaming. And please stay safe, because these days there are many feds shooting civilians for no reason.

Of course I believe in justice.

I’ll say it again: this is not the only way to fight back. But it’s how politicians operate, and this one’s now doing what is in their power. Something else might be in someone else’s power to do.

IDK where that ICE murderer now is, but they could have detained him right there and prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Nothing Trump can do about it (short of starting a war against a state). But you’d probably say they’re “still dreaming of a thing named justice”.

Further, a professor sued his university who fired him over some Charlie Kirk comment on social media. He won, and the university that decided to obey MAGA is now $500k poorer. But you’d probably have told that person that they’re “still dreaming of a thing named justice”.

I understand the anger and frustration, but it doesn’t have to lead to pessimistic fatalism.
