They’re taking over. I’m too young to dye. No cap, rizzlers.

Yeah I got lucky there. My dad has a full head and my grandfather on my mom’s side did too.

I still stress over losing it though, much more than being gray (fiancee wants it).

I can’t pull off the bald look like a lot of guys can, so I’m getting plugs if it comes to it. I still got time to lose it all 😂

just wait. you’ll keep checking for new ones and one day you just stop looking because it starts to not bother you so much.

then one day, a few years later, you look the mirror on your way out for work or whatever and you see it.

you see all the greys. peppered all over your “youthful” appearance. and then…you look closer…are those spots on my face-- holy shit and my hands! “when did I get so old” you’ll ask yourself.

    when indeed.

welcome to club, fucker. we meet at the cheapest diner in town for unlimited coffee every day at 7am until 6pm.

Must be nice lmfao, no one ever compliments me. You gotta be a really good looking dude to get one.

Oh, I’m just a very average gay. Gay men aren’t as shy about complimenting each other. 😅 But anyway, just so you know, a lot of people are into the salt & pepper look. I say wear it with pride.

Oh trust me, I know. I’ve been complimented maybe 4-5 times in my life, and 3 of those times have been gay men.

If a gay guy says something then that’s how I know I’m doing something right. Badge of honor.

How do you not have crows feet - Christ your skin is smooth - I would take grey over looking like Ed Harris’s ball sack (like I do)

My main tip is to never see the Sun.

Thank you though. That means a lot. I fucked myself for a while by popping bumps when I was younger so I stopped that shit and just started moisturizing occasionally.

Also I don’t really wash my face in the shower, just rinse. Idk if that means anything. I don’t follow a regimen.

You should’ve seen my mom when she was my age. Super beautiful. I look like a Hobbit in comparison.

I believe it’s the sun and good genetics. I’ve got decent genetics (I think?) but I worked outside all of my 20s and 30s. I used sunscreen religiously but squinting (due to sun) and the like also plays a role. It’s hard to remember to reapply in the middle of a 12 hr day, when there’s work that needs to be done.

I’m exaggerating how wrinkled I am, but I definitely got crows feet and forehead wrinkles.

I got a single white streak when I was 16. I genuinely think it was due to the stress in high school. It hasn’t gotten bigger since, so fingers crossed.

I had that in my 20s and it went away. It’s pretty shitty because it just causes more stress. But when this new batch started coming in I knew it was over.

Maybe it’ll suit me, or maybe I’ll be on that 13or30 reddit thing.

You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old. Stay in touch with younger people, and don’t be afraid to make friends with younger people (within reason - stick to 20 or older). Don’t make fun of current slang, you had yours at that age too. Learn it even if you don’t use it yourself. Don’t fall into the trap of “the only good music was my generation’s”, always look for new music to like, even if it’s individual songs instead of whole artists.

Keep taking care of your appearance. Even if you go full gray in the future, if you make a point to look at least good, you’re ahead of a lot of people of all ages.

And remember - gray hair isn’t an embarrassment, every single one is a testament that no one and nothing in life has been able to kill you yet. The more you have, the more it testifies that you are hard to kill. 😁

Found my first grey hair when I was 16. Since then, multiple GFs have found the occasional grey hair. I’m 45, and weirdly my hair keeps getting darker. Used to be a platinum blonde, turned sandy blonde, and now it would be called brown…

One thing I wish someone would have talked at me about more often in relation to getting older… You already have problems you’re probably not paying enough attention to that you should look at now.

Does your neck always hurt in a weird way when you get up? Mole that you were looking at one day and it doesn’t look quite right? Maybe you just started feeling a weird feeling in some part of your body and it never got worse so you just got used to ignoring it?

You’re getting to the point where those tend to start escalating. Take inventory and get them checked out.

In case anyone needs to hear this — when blood and mucus start coming out your butt, you need to go to the gastroenterologist. Don’t believe your primary care physician who says it’s probably IBS and therefore untreatable and not worth worrying about. It was ulcerative colitis for me, and they have treatments that let you live your life without being tethered to the bathroom.
