But you know what the best part about this is? Trump and the Repbulicans now get to point out, right or wrong, that see Democrats were the ones who caused the shutdown and they get a chance to spout off more propaganda about how Democrats are to blame for the incoming Republican caused premium hikes. And the American people are going to just eat it up.
A deal would imply that they extracted some concessions. This was just a capitulation.
The deal also includes voting in December to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies that Democrats have been fighting to preserve, according to the report.
Vote on it? They don’t control the House or Senate. They’ll lose it.
They have the votes on the Dem side plus GOP defectors to pass something no problem. It would political suicide for the GOP people siding with Dems right to bail on it in a month, especially after people just got hit hard by this shutdown and the bills for their upcoming ACA premiums. I think they’ve got the votes.
Oh, yes, I’m sure they’ll follow through on their pinky promise to be civil like they have every other time in history when they get the chance to dig in. And I’m also sure that Trump will happily not veto a democratic bill to make an example or anything.
I’m sure they’ll have that vote right after they swear in that congresswoman and release the Epstein files.
If they had the votes they would have included it in the current bill.
