Anish Kapoor has bought the exclusive rights to Vantablack in art, meaning other artists are not allowed to use it.
He was critizised heavily by painter Stuart Semple, who told Kapoor to #ShareTheBlack. Semple in turn created the “world’s pinkest pink,” alongside the “world’s most glittering glitter.”
And the license for those state that both can be purchased by anyone in the world, except Anish Kapoor.
I ordered $270 worth of pigments from them and they never shipped them. I followed up five times over four months and I got emails back saying they’d look into what was going on and I never found out what was goin on. I never got a shipping label. Never got confirmation the order was sent. They stopped replying to my emails eventually (I was polite, for the record).
I finally ended up filing a dispute with my credit card company.
Never in my life have I dealt with such a kafkaesque process.

I bought both versions of his “black” and they’re great. #1 is blacker by far, harder to apply though.
