I mean, I’m souring on the Democrats because they haven’t fucking done anything to divert us from this disaster.

The Dems are fairly low on my list of the blame game. But they’re still on the list!

They’re very high on mine. They created the conditions that allowed Trump to take power. They’ve fought tooth and nail to keep everyone who might have been able to prevent this disaster away from the levers of power. The Democrats are the rachet preventing the rest of the country from stopping (or gasp reversing) the Republican-led march to fascism.

If Joe Biden had put Donald Trump behind bars on his first day of office for the January 6 attack we wouldn’t be here right now. Everything good he ever did is irrelevant because he failed to stop the coup

The house is burning down. I’m obviously blaming the arsonists, but I’m also lying blame at the firefighters who decided to not do their duty.

When they get the ball, they won’t play offense. When they lose the ball, they won’t play defense.

In a functioning democracy this would be a great time to launch a 3rd party.

The Dems are like the Keystone Cops bungling around while a wannabe dictator continues to take America apart.

Even if the Dems had decent candidates, their strategy and tactics are ineffective.

It’s like we get the worst of anyone who wants to be a politician, either side of the aisle.

Simple reason is…it takes a ton of fucking money to run a campaign. Even small county judge races cost at least 50-80k. How many good, down to earth people can drop their job, spend 80k on campaign shit and get out alive?

Even with party money, you’ll still be struggling. Plus, who wants to be holden to the same old bullshit system?

Very good points. It’s why money needs to be taken out of politics. Many other countries have figured that out.

Citizens United really was the nail in the coffin for American politics.

100% agree. If we do have a landslide in 2026 without MAGA’s cancer. Maybe we can end Citizens United!

Exactly. Because they’re not prepared to do what’s actually necessary - reform the filibuster to allow it to be removed. Democrats have all these high-minded plans, but they all require a margin in the Senate they will never reasonably achieve. And even if by some miracle they did get 60 seats in the Senate, there will always be a rotating villain to throw a wrench in the works. Mamdani won not just because he had plans, but because he had very specific plans. He could tell people exactly how he intended to pass those plans. Democrats don’t actually have a plan for repealing Citizens United. They just have vague notions about repealing Citizens United.

They’re not willing to. The filibuster is democrats’ perfect excuse for not passing things that they ran on but never had any intention of ever implementing.

Democrats don’t actually have a plan for repealing Citizens United.

Of course they don’t. You don’t plan to do things you don’t intend to do.

I mean, Mamdani and Bernie proved that this is a very solvable problem. Small dollar donations are more than enough to get a candidate with popular policies into victory.

Democrats were recently caught having a fund raising scheme so corrupt that it should be a capital offense to run such a thing. Those spammy text messages we were getting asking for donations? Turns out 98% of the money donated to those went straight into the pockets of consultants. The party’s primary reason for existence is not to advance policy goals, but to steal money from liberal donors.
