I thought maybe they crossed against the light, nope that asshat ran the red light. Whats a POS, enjoy the criminal and civil lawsuit. Hope the kids are ok, worried about the little one, he looked like he hit his head pretty hard.

Too fucking important to obey traffic signals, too fucking tall to easily see the kids he’s running over, and so much of an idiot to own a penis-substitute pavement princess in New York City.

Also, if you disregard a traffic signal and it leads to you hitting a pedestrian… regardless of all the other civil and legal results… you should lose your ability to obtain a driver’s license for life.

That doesn’t matter anyway, you yield to people Inna crosswalk whether they have right of way or not.

This is also why you dont block the box. The driver likely couldn’t see the kids because of the Fed Ex truck blocking part of the intersection. We dont know what color the lights were for the driver, could have been blinking red which is stop and proceed if empty that people sadly treat as “stop, optionally.”

If you look close, the kids had a “walk” when they started. He definitely had a red. Unless the lights are fucked up…

mate that’s not so much a “truck doesn’t stop for children in crosswalk” as it is a “driver completely blows a red light and runs into children in crosswalk on their crossing signal”

    just a little bit understated

First thing I looked for. The walk sign just started flashing the “don’t walk” when the kids started running. So, long time red, at that.

Cars striking pedestrians happens everywhere. However, in other developed countries, the rate has been in decline for like 50 years. The US was in decline until the late 90s, or sometime in the 2000s. It then started to rise, and the rise began increasing in rate. Now the US is a drastic stand out for how many pedestrians are hit, especially fatally, compared to countries of relatively similar infrastructure development.

Anyone who deals with kids knows that kids don’t always have the awareness to stop for passing cars. A developed adult would, but kids just don’t stop.

Even when accompanied with an adult holding their hand, they let go of it and dash to run into passing cars. That’s why you are not allowed to pass school buses when they stop.
You have to assume that kids brains are wired to attempt everything that would kill them. Tragedies happen all the time because of that and it’s sad and serious not funny.
