Republicans have no intention of abiding by the law, listening to voters, or actually governing. With them, it’s all about the racism, cruelty, and lawlessness. Never let them have power again…

Given the turnout and hype around the election, a riot would ensue if the losers took away citizenship to deprive the winner of their winnings.

Wrong. They will do whatever they want, sure. But they will use any justification no matter how flimsy. This is less flimsy. And you’re reacting as if I’m saying what new Yorkers should do but I’m not. I’m simply accurately predicting what we all know trump would do in response.

That is not a fight they would win. Admittedly, its a fight everyone would lose. But it would be the end of this coup, and possibly the end of the “United” states.

A great American city is on the precipice of being run by a communist who has publicly embraced a terroristic ideology,” Representative Andy Ogles from the Republican party said

What the fuck are these cretins on?

Is anyone left from Hitler a “communist” now?

What do you mean “now?” Americans have had this habit of calling anyone whose politics they disapprove of a “communist” or “socialist” for a very long time.

Both in Fascism and Socialism/Communism the State owns the companies, or at least controls them.

Meanwhile in Neoliberalism the companies (well, Money in general) sits above the State, which is how it differs from Fascism: in both systems common people are at the bottom of the pile and whilst in Fascism a few people control the State which sits above Money, in Neoliberalism a few people control most of the Money which sits above the State (which is supposedly controlled by The People through elections, but since it’s subsidiary to Money that means that what The People control via the vote is only that which Money doesn’t care about)

In Democracy people are supposed to be at the top of the pile, controlling the State through their vote, with the State in turn being above the rest, including Money.

They know that nobody with a red hat as EVER read or listened to an actual thing Mamdani has ever said. They could say he flew one of the planes on 9/11 and most of the base would believe it.

Boomers grew up on anti-communist propaganda. But unlike other people, they didn’t use critical thinking and introspection. Therefore, because they still refuse to learn and grow, it’s still the scariest thing they can imagine…

    Possible? Absolutely.

Likely? I dont think so. Stripping a person of citizenship because they are of the opposing party feels like a line in the sand. How do you defend that? At that point its over for America. Like pack it up and every person who is not a straight white christian should be looking to get the fuck out

They are already abducting and “deporting” US citizens. Your line in the sand has been crossed. Just because they haven’t done it yet to one of your parasocial relationship chosen-ones doesn’t mean it isn’t already happening.

Well, how do they defend the fact that theyre currently kidnapping US citizens? Id say deporting them but most of these US citizens (mind you they never got a trial) just vanish without a trace. Tbh it seems a lot more likely theyre being trafficked.

Of course it’s possible. We cannot allow it within our society, and it’s certainly illegal to do so. The only thing that stops the people who uphold the law from ignoring the law is if people actually stand up to it, since clearly our separation of powers has failed us.

No they won’t, New York has it’s own political capital in the form of a massive city that centralizes international trade and politics, and a tight-knight community around that culture. This is why his election is such a huge deal.

Whoever in the administration is still talking about this is just babbling nonsense for their base so they can look like they’re big strong tough guys who are fighting the eeeevil brown people communists.

If they actually made a plan to deport the fucking mayor of NEW YORK it would get shot down by every court in the land. They know this, everyone with a brain knows this, so that should tell you who this narrative is being written for.

New York is resilient if nothing else. It is a dirty, grimy, hazardous city and you have to learn to look out for each other if you want to survive. If they come after the Zo at this point they will disturb the entire wasp’s nest. The people supporting the fascists are the same ones who are too scared to set foot in NYC on a nicer day

I say this as a proud New Yorker, but also because fuck fascists

Big city mindset is something else altogether than that of the countryside or even small city: it’s an environment that teaches people to have a very low threshold to endure shit from others, even the “nicest” people, because when you live surrounded by thousands of people 24/7 and have to cross paths with literally tens of thousands every day just by walking on the street, enduring shit from others will quickly end up with you getting swamped by crap.

Further, in my own experience (granted, mainly in European cities), the bigger the city the more the people there have a big city’s very own special kind of grit. You can see this is even how pedestrians deal with traffic - the bigger the city the less people are willing to just wait for the signs to change and the more likely they are to just tell somebody blocking the way of other pedestrians to “either fucking move or fucking get out of the way”.

Of the people I’ve known over the years the only ones with an even lower threshold for taking shit than me were New Yorkers.

It’s the kind of action that in the current environment risks triggering a break-up of the US and it’s pretty much a certainty that if that happens Trumpistan isn’t going have any of the rich parts in it.
