Never heard of OpenWRT before, is it nice?
Linux based embedded router OS. Yes, it’s nice.
As soon as Windows is installed, Microsoft owns the computer.
It want from “My Computer” to “This PC”.
Yeah, it’s time for windows to die. My windows 10 computer i’m pretty sure everything on it would work on linux, so i’ll switch it over to Mint in a few weeks.
I installed Pop OS on some old hardware “just to see what it’s like” 2 weeks ago and am already planning to switch my primary over by this weekend. If I can be done with Windows, I’ll be a happy man.
I installed Pop OS on my ten year old laptop two days ago. I’m not sure it’s my forever distro, but it’s running fine now that I got the right nvidia driver set up. In any case, now that I’ve gone through the process, I feel a lot more confident that I can build a Linux desktop instead of buying a PS6 in a few years. I’ll probably go AMD to simplify the setup.
A lot of stuff does run.
- Steam (proton)
- Heroic Launcher (Epic Games, Gog, Prime gaming)
- Wine for additional Windows based Programs
The only Thing that I do Miss, is Anti-Cheat Software for some games. Thats the only reason to keel dualboot, to Launch that Games on Windows. Besides that - screw Windows.
I got GOG Galaxy working in Steam, through Proton, as an “Add a non-Steam Game”. I’ll have to try Heroic Launcher.
Try Lutris - it integrates with the GOG store so will fetch and install the games from there, with proper scripts to configure Wine so that the game just works with no extra configuration (i.e. with works like the Steam launcher does for the Steam store).
I believe Heroic Launcher does the same, but I’ve just settled down to use Lutris and Steam so never go around to test Heroic.
You can Download an .AppImage from their Website directly. Just make it executable and there you Go. Decent UI and pretty straight forward
My method has always been the same, it it always works eventually.
When my devices go against my will, I lean real close and whisper “I’m gonna fucking disconnect you and then throw you in a river” and usually after a few hours of threats I get what I want. I guess the debugging and manual reading and whatnot does help a bit, but I suspect it is mostly the fear that fixes the issues.
Oh so you’re the one behind all the electronics waste in my local river?
Please throw it in the bin or install linux on it from now on
they’ve got all the telemetry to infer what you’re doing and what your screen looks like
But for some reason, they still need to screenshot dudes fucking up excel spreadsheets and lowballing people on Facebook marketplace for 8 hours
Does any body have a link to that photo?
Here you go:
Wheres this photo even from?? I would love to know, its peak shitlisting material
There’s a really small credit at the bottom from 1998, and I found some more from the same photoshoot just now. It looks like people have tried to find the source of this before, but I’m not seeing any answer as to WHY, lol
Stock imagery, probably.
Amazing. Thanks.
What do computers and air conditioning have in common? Both stop working when you open windows.
It is somewhat ironic they’re showing a Mac in that shot… did Office even run on them at that stage of the game.
I was hoping nobody would notice they were macs when I made this because the image was too funny not to use…
Microsoft runs the best viral marketing for Linux.
Now I’m thirsting for Jodie Foster with black rifle deepfakes
“New”
I could swear it has been happening in window’s temporary folders for like 3 years now.
Hell yea
