  • I’ve been learning Rust by going through The Book… there’s some wack-ass syntax in that language. I’ve mostly used C# and Python so most of it just looks weird… I can more or less understand what while let Some((_, top)) = iter.next() { ... } is doing, but .for_each(|((_, _, t), (_, _, b))| { ... } just looks like an abomination. And I mean the syntax in general, not this code in particular.

  • His peak of popularity was in a different era of societal awareness. His humor had an edge that was often crude and immature 15 years ago and unacceptable today, culminating in him dropping the N bomb during a livestream several years ago, and even after apologies, people just can’t let go and are still trying to crucify him.

Some others are simply hating on him because he has opinions that don’t fully align with theirs. Others, simply for being popular.

Personally I don’t feel one way or the other about him, but the video is worth watching. He shows a deep understanding of the system and its components, and more expertise than Linus “Yes, do as I say!” Sebastian presented.

  • Cybersecurity engineers and pentesters don’t need Kali or Parrot. You don’t need Proxmox to use LXC and KVM. You don’t need OpenMediaVault to have Samba and NFS shares. You don’t need Clonezilla to make use of the OCS toolkit. You don’t need LMDE to have a Debian OS with Cinnamon and nonfree drivers installed, or Endeavour to have Arch with KDE Plasma.

But it’s sure as shit good to have everything packed together and preconfigured by professionals.
