    Everyone who would have posted something racist and vile like this just 2 years ago would have been expelled from school or college or lost their job.

    This is absolutely insane.

      This is what undoing decade worth of progression in less than a year looks like. With such progressive movements, people who oppose it go into social hiding and come out when the time is right. If the progression hasn’t lasted enough to become a societal reflex then it can be toppled easily. That is what we are seeing with things like LGBQT+ rights, DEI, inclusivity etc in the US

          I think you meant pedophiles, since its an attraction. Sex offenders are people who already offended; therefore, touched kids.

          I can agree with the last part, there is no excuse he can make to change the situation for him or others. Also he might be a nepophile, which really highlights the vile part.

    I remember seeing Obama sworn in on the break room TV at work. People still didn’t say the quiet part out loud back then, but you could tell they were fucking seething about him getting elected.

    “Look how smug he is.” “She’s ugly.” “Just a disgrace.” “I bet they’re all happy now.”

    The people who would go on to become the MAGA of today, as well as Trump and so many others, will never let Obama’s victory go. They’ll never forgive him for being black, successful, and worst of all, more popular than they are.

    Even if Obama disappeared from the public consciousness today, or it was discovered that he’s committed some horrible crime and he goes to jail, they’d still feel that his getting elected was an unforgivable insult towards them on a personal level.

    That’s the kind of mentality we’re dealing with.

      His election complete broke the minds of a lot of people. We’re in the situation we’re in in part (most of this started long long ago) because their hate finally boiled over.

        I think it stole a sense of security from them. It’s like they assumed that because MLK day was a bank holiday no one needed to be upset about anything anymore, we could keep electing old white guys until the sun burns out, and no one would ever think they’re the bad guys for maintaining the status quo.
