    sh.itjust.works was down too. I just switched instances which is the point. It’s not supposed to fail over, it just can’t be taken down because there are more instances. I sure wish my client could auto fail over to one of my other accounts grab posts though.

      I mean, in theory, the folks admining .world could create their own fail-over. But hosting costs money and redundancy costs even more money and this continues to be - at its heart - a labor of love by a handful of charitable admins, not an enterprise level app looking to maximize uptime for revenue.

      To get Fediverse to switch instances or substitute a working mirror, you’d have to pivot away from the inherently decentralized nature of the application. At a minimum, you’d need an endpoint that worked as a switch between communities.

      Like, its possible, in the same way Torrents have a single entry point that ties out to a semi-unreliable cluster of hosters. But it is not (to my knowledge) how Fediverse is currently designed.
