While it is true that ICE is state sanctioned evil, most of their henchmen are fucking idiots.

Their very sloppy attempts to disguise their faces while on the clock, is simply no match for crowd sourced doxxing, and the comprehensive and redundant databases that are currently up and running.

Best of luck with those attempts at anonymity, ICE chuckle fucks.

We have crowd sourcing, they have billions of dollars in tech and effectively a blank check. It’s an arms race, and we’ve already lost it.

I don’t get something here. How do they have a facial recognition database that is accurate enough to even begin to attempt this? Yes, most Americans have some form of photo ID but many of those IDs don’t require updating the photo more than once every 10 years. Also, not everyone has a ohoto ID. How can they possibly think this database is good enough to use for determining who should be arrested?

Beyond that, ICE has stated that they are trusting the database even over actual documentation. They say the database doesn’t lie, even if you have documentation saying otherwise…

They don’t. These are fascists looking for an excuse to abuse people, not judges trying to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

They store the data from everytime you enter and exit the country. For citizens they claim to delete that data after a couple days- but I would not be too confident in that. So if you are a citizen ALWAYS opt out of biometric entry and exit. I’ve multiple times been told it is not an option, then being forced to wait 10 minutes- harassed about why I want to opt out, then it suddenly becomes an option. This is despite CBPs policy that you cannot be penalized for it. I have several audio recordings of this happening because I noticed how much of a pattern it was.

Those are optional. When they tell you to look into the camera, just hold up your hand to cover the lens and say “no thanks”

Sometimes they frown. Usually they just say “OK”

As far as we know it’s not actually using any facial recognition at all.

It could just be using the scanned face to generate fake evidence of non-citizenship. It would be SUPER easy to make an app to do this using generative AI. You know, like Grok.

That’s why China is ahead of the US. They don’t need to hire violent idiots for the photoshoot, they just fill the entire place with cameras and they work out the big data instead. /s

“Not a citizen” doesn’t equate not being legally in the country. For a longer time with the appropriate work visa or green card, or for a shorter time with a tourist visa. Are they hauling off tourists and legal residents if they’re not citizens?

Yes. Yes they are, we have many reports of them hauling off citizens, tourists, and especially legal residents.

It’s actually the reason people are upset. Obama deported way more than trump but he used courts to do it and you know what, no spectacle! It was methodical and systematic and sometimes I’m sure it was cruel and shocking but they followed a well documented legal procedure which gave people some guidance on the process.

rump and his administration on the other hand don’t give a fuck. Chaos and cruelty are the point. The rules and proceedings that we have built up are out the window because they give people too much warning. They allow people too much understanding of the process. There is not enough fear involved if they follow procedure. They like fear and people being afraid of them. It’s part of why the inflatable costumes piss them off so much. Protestors being ridiculous and silly juxtaposed with ICE treating inflatable frogs and unicorns as a violent threat. It makes ice look small, weak, jumpy, and most of all, in the wrong.

But yes they are hauling off tourists and legal residents to answer your question. They then revoke whatever visa they’re on including revoke permanent residence without due process… It’s what we in the business call really fucking awful.

You can have proof that you live here, have lived here for 20 years, legally although you might have arrived without documentation. You have a spouse, children, maybe even put together money for a house. And then ICE shows up to at you claiming that a DUI you received 18 years ago is justification for removal from the country and your family and your life. Oh and we’re shipping you back to the country where you’re on a hit list.

It’s just cruel for the sake of cruelty.

This exactly. And moreover, with SCOTUS saying it’s totally OK to detain people in foreign prisons before their case (which is done online to further minimize the ability of the defense to actually do their job), they can just ship you to the country that has a hit on you, and weird, you wind up dead or beaten halfway there so you look nice and dirty for a judge who’s already likely decided to throw you wherever (but now you look like “one of them” so there’s an extra layer of justification).

This reminds me of the marvel comic line where the Avengers discover some guy that can supposedly tell the future and then Captain Marvel goes on a witch hunt using this guy who sees people’s future even though the gang eventually figure out he’s not always right. Anyway, WTF
