There is no Russian city called Leningrad anymore, but apparently no one bothered to tell Donald Trump.

    … sparks?

I hate it here. Fucker has been riddled with syphilis and shitting himself since the 1980s and we allowed him to take the presidency twice.

I won’t shut up about it.

I had to explain to my father that, because of the wording of the new york penal code, the only reason that trump isn’t a convicted rapist is that the defendant could not assert on the stand whether Donald Trump penetrated her with his penis or his finger. Digital rape is a sexual assault charge. Rape needs a penis.

Are there citations for this? I’m genuinely asking, for context and so I can feel comfortable repeating it.

Edit: I don’t understand why this deserves a downvote. Im not defending Trump. I’m not trolling. I legit wanna hear stories about Trump shitting himself and the signs he has syphilis.

During his campaign last year, Trump thought that Johnny Carson was still alive and available to take back the Tonight Show.

Not a peep from the media or even Lemmy. It was, “Biden senile.”

He thinks Hannibal Lecter is real, dead, and a fan of his. He’s obviously fictional, neither the character in any media he’s been portrayed in or any of the actors who portrayed him have died, and the character’s second most well known trait (you know, after the whole cannibal thing) is his absolute disdain for rude, vulgar people, and none of the actors have displayed a fondness for Donald either. His closing message before the election was about how much he loved deceased golfer Arnold Palmer’s apparently enormous dick.

His campaign really fell apart there near the end. It was way worse than pretty much everyone realizes. He would just abruptly quit ranting and start dancing to the same song repeatedly.

I don’t doubt that there was some shenanigans, but the defeat was so total and immediate in all the battleground states I question whether they could have rigged it THAT well. I was expecting a months-long slugfest.

Oh they “rigged” it, but they did it very openly. Elon Musk went to all the key states and bribed voters with his checks and his lottery and it was all ruled completely legal because technically anyone could sign up even though it was very obviously set up to pay off people to vote for Trump.

They might. It’s political suicide to turn on him one at a time. But they’re not all idiots.

If some of them see an opportunity, they might turn. It just needs to be coordinated and effective. Because if you take that shot, you better not miss.

Meanwhile trump is 2.5 years younger than Biden was when he dropped out, and has 3.5 years to go. So, the president’s age should be an even bigger issue then it was then, instead of disappearing altogether as an issue.

Why are we using not having dementia as the intellectual benchmark for someone to lead a country. Dude can’t read or do basic maths let alone understand more complex economics or geopolitics.

Even when he fails the dementia test we will resort to simply checking for a pulse, and I bet once he dies it will be covered up for as long as possible.

You know, I wonder how far they’ll take medical technicalities in the future. Could they keep the current SCOTUS on the bench for 200 years as a morbid ship of Theseus because it’s a lifetime appointment? Just replace their organs with machinery as they fail?

What if Roberts’ brain-in-a-jar occasionally drifted into sentience just to mouthlessly scream about how disappointed he is that nobody respects the court anymore? It would at least make me feel a little better.

Im all for calling out Trump for his senility as much as the next guy, but this is kind of reaching to call a dementia moment…even I didnt know Leningrad wasn’t a city anymore. And im in my 30s, far from senile…Hell, I didnt know it was called Saint Petersburg before. And it was only renamed St. Petersburg in the 90s sometime. Probably something you’d only know if you are actually a Russian citizen, or live there.

Or you know… googled it just now and read the Wikipedia article on it.

Edit: Wow, didnt realize calling out an article for its bullshit would be a controversial opinion. I’d ask my mom if she knows where St. Petersburg and Leninburg are at, but I already know she wouldn’t know they were the same city…ya’ll can stop telling me how common knowledge this is now. I dont care.

Edit 2: just for funsies, I asked my mom (in her 60s btw) if she knew where Leningrad was…she had no idea.

No, if you were old enough when the Berlin Wall came down and had any interest in world news, you would know about Leningrad and St. Petersburg. I guess if you’re young enough, that’s not part of the zeitgeist for you. I’m kind of surprised you’d heard of Leningrad, to be honest.

For someone with Trump’s upbringing, not knowing this is either dementia or he’s always been an idiot. Given when he was running in 2016 he didn’t know the difference between Hezbollah and Hamas, I would lean toward idiot.

I don’t know, I would say after the fall of the Soviet Union its renaming was fairly common knowledge if you lived through that (even outside the former Soviet States)

Fair, but I mostly meant people who really experienced and remembered it. Aged around 50+ (like Trump).

So forgetting that… Not a big deal. Remembering its old name first… OK, not remembering the current name after the old one - weird. And, finally, doing that constantly in many occasions, sign of mental problems.

I’m starting to think it was a regional thing. I went to school when it was still Leningrad, and we learned about Hegel, Marx, Lenin, the Bolsheviks, the Russian Revolution, and the renaming of St. Petersburg. Maybe that’s why it stuck more when it was changed back.

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam!

The discrepancy between the reporting of Biden’s word fumbles and Trump’s word diarrhea tells you all you need to know about mass media.

I was tearing my hair out people losing their shit at Biden taking a second to remember a word, while Trump got to speak like a fucking lunatic, without rhyme or reason, just because he’s cocked up and speaks faster.
