“This is the TempCom 2300. It monitors and controls your refrigeration units, and allows you to log in and make changes. It’s protected with a firewall to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.”

“Oh yeah? Well, this is Frank. He can read thermometers, too. You can text him for a status update. He won’t set the thermostat above freezing regardless of what calls he gets, because he knows it’s his job to keep it cold.”

        I totally agree!

Even easier for Frank, make it a normally open/closed relay that sends a trap to an M&C or sends email/sms when its outside set boundaries. (work in this area) Its used for simple systems like this.

I can’t see a reason why (and I grew up in restaurants) that my old man would want to change the freezer settings remotely. Also our guy was named Al, he looked like an Al, he talked like an Al and he could fix ANYTHING.

Best HVAC tech I’ve ever met, and I work in data centers (yes I will get hate, mine are from the 90’s not this new shit). We had a reefer down he would fix it before we went below FDA temps. Also great at catching issues WAY before they became an issue.

Dan Tentler is a very fun and engaging speaker on the subject, he also has a fun talk about scanning the entire Internet.

            Sounds like my kinda person

As an RF engineer and a former WARDriver I want to delve into RFID and how bad the security is.

Since Mythbusters wasn’t allowed to test it and the rash of RFID car thefts I’m pretty sure I’ll end up on another list.

Ninja: “who wants to be unplugged?”

People on life support: “back in my day you just pissed off a guy and they cut you for free, now you need to pay for the privilege, this country is going to shit.”

I think if it keeps going the way its going it will be a winner. Plus I love to tinker/fix things as an engineer. Great getting old job as a GenX’er :)

These are large commercial freezers, probably build into the building rather than being mobile. They’re not chest freezers.

I get that and I grew up in restaurants. We had massive walk in fridges and freezers and at no time did we ever need to change the temp remotely.

Why would any part of a military network be accessible? I think that question comes before the IOT question.

Indeed, you have to mention US military extra here. They look more like a south American army to me
