It most definitely is not an English invention. Basically all European cuisines has some form of apple pie. Pies, both sweet and savoury, was the main method of cooking food in the middle ages.
Apple pie is Dutch. Guess they had to let the English in somehow.

The first lángos was made in 8th century BCE, while persian pizza is beleived to be made in the 6th century BCE…
Apple pie comes from England, but it evolved from foods made by the Dutch, but they took/evolved it from the Ottomans who took apples from Kazakhstan.
But modern Apple pie is an English invention, it just has a lot of influences from other sources (which is the same for pretty much every food).
