I’ve met my fair share of people like this and the mysterious source of income is almost always “family money”.

You’re describing vacation, no? I have 6+ weeks of paid vacation every year. In Europe. Sure, six weeks isn’t the entire summer, but with the vacation days saved from previous years (since I rarely use more than four weeks) I could easily live work free for months. Granted, my income wouldn’t be mysterious…

That’s me, just not for one summer. I have a military disability pension, I’m 39 and get 3k on my bank account each month (with taxes already deducted). I don’t have to work anymore for the rest of my life, due to PTSD from deployments. I can do whatever the fuck I want and I’m getting the money to support that. Scarred for life though, life is a struggle every day. If I could choose, I’d pick working normally with no mental issues any time.

Disability pension isn’t exactly easy to come by. You can only get it if a doctor manages to convince someone who’s entire job is to stop you from getting it by any legal means necessary that you are incapable of holding a job because of what is affecting you 24-7 365.

It’s less a jackpot than a consolation prize.

If you don’t mind poor sleep with horrible nightmares, waking up in a soaking wet bed, several times every single night, then sure. If you don’t mind not being able to go to a supermarket or store. Or having panic episodes or re-living the horrors randomly for no reason. Being bored shitless because you can’t leave the house, dont feel like doing anything but also are restless AF. All while having an existential crisis because I’m worthless to society, have no purpose in life, no satisfaction from achievements as I have none.

        Trade?

Thats rough. I had a fairly traumatic experience once. The result was about a month of a zombie-like state. It took me some time to discover i was having nightmares i could not remember when waking up, in addition to depression and occasional flashbacks.

In my case it was a “normal” reaction to extreme stress since it eventually improved. Having to live like that would not be fun. Ill deal with having to go to work instead.

Yeah it’s hard sometimes. But so can work life be. Both can be shit. I just wish people in general had more sympathy and would treat others better, including employees and colleagues. Going to your job happy is half the work. You might hoard in less fortune as a company when you pay your employees a fare wage, for reasonable hours and with enough holidays, but you ensure knowledge stays in your company as people become loyal, health improves so people are missing less work days due to illness and motivated people work harder and make less mistakes. But billionaires prefer unhappy, unhealthy slaves to get just that little bit more money themselves.

With me it was something similar, except with the government and after care. I had traumatic experiences, I wasn’t able to work anymore due to increasing stress levels. This caused the trauma to surface and become an issue. But instead of helping me they started to bully me, threaten me, making my life miserable. If I would have gotten the care I needed, I wouldn’t have fallen all the way down into the abyss and probably still would be working after some time off to get therapy.

It’s so fucking dumb. Now they are paying me the rest of my life, while they could have paid me for work after getting me better. While my life is so much harder now. No one is a winner due to selfishness.

Wow. You have some real problems, you should probably see someone about this. I already had to live through unemployment in the EU, it’s really not so bad. None of those symptoms at least. Yes, I was happy to finally find a job, tailored to my needs.

It’s called being on the dole, no? It’s nice for a while, then you need some activity or I would get insane. Been there, done that, can’t complain. Happy to work again but glad the system exists (getting worse though).

Stalk a billionaire until you catch them doing one of those reprehensible things billionaires do.

Then send messages to them through an anonymous source, and demand a small regular payment through untraceable means.

I bet every billionaire has about 100 of those in their payroll.
