“Noticeable” mainly as in, “when does the belly become big enough to for people to notice it’s pregnancy and not just being fat”. Any further insight from anyone who has been pregnant would be welcome.

That really depends a lot on body shape. You surely heard about women who repressed any thought of pregnancy and nobody else did notice either. Apart from that I’d say 20 weeks.

Paramedic here with specialised delivery training. Delivered around 30 babies probably. Saw a high three digit number of pregnant patients.

You can’t reliable say that. Until you see the kid.

And I don’t mean the cases were the mother is blocking out the pregnancy mentally until she is crowning. (But tbh, it’s one of the most cherised moment of everyone in my profession if you have the “I am not pregnant, you idiot!” “Ma’am, I literally can see the hair of your baby coming out…oh and here’s the rest of the bub”-discussion)

I literally had a aquaintance not recognise her pregnancy (and she had been pregnant before) until she went to hospital for stomach pain. I saw her the weekend before and did not recognise the pregnancy. And,yes, the baby was full term. Happens, especially if the uterus is not in its usual place.

In other people you see it after 8 weeks (and well,it is often not the belly that is the first indicator which grows suddenly).

Other people look like "13 months pregnant with triplets"at the beginning of their second trimester.

Anyway: What is the reason for your question? (And: If you or anyone needs support in that case write me a messge. More than happy to guide you in the right direction if you are in a tight spot.)

      • She said she had to quit work like somewhere between 1-2 months before my expected birth.

Actually she said the management for the company she worked at found out, but sort of just decided like “turn one eye blind” and didn’t really report it so I got lucky…

Mom constandly tells me about women that get taken to hospitals for forced abortions…

And she tells me to “be grateful” for being alive…

And I sort of have an existential crisis over this…

She was supposed get checked for pregnancy every 3 months, but she told me she told another woman to do the exams in her name so they never found out about my existence until it’s too late.

TLDR: Basically she got away with it for like 7 months or so before the management at her work started to notice its a pregnancy. I don’t know if the average bystander even know or maybe assume its the first pregnancy or just didn’t care, idk if her coworkers knew, but I don’t think people would dig deep into other’s bussiness unless they really like snitching.

Depends on the girl and the number of babies you’ve had. If you’re on your 4th baby people will be able to tell sooner than your first.

For your first baby, generally it’s unnoticeable for everyone in the first trimester including the mom. Second trimester is probably pretty safe too, this is when you might start looking a little fat by the end, but not really pregnant. Third trimester is when the majority of the weight is gained, and the baby grows the fastest. In the last month of the third trimester the baby gains like a pound per week.

About 20-25 weeks in, depending on body shape. If the bearer is overweght or obese, it’s harder to spot. Sometimes you don’t until the end.

It also depends on how the uterus is situated. If one has a front-facing one, it’s more likely to point outwards and press on the bladder, whereas a more backward one will press the organs more but be less visible, even though both bearers might be equally far along.

I once knew a woman who only noticed she was pregnant when she gave birth. One night she had some belly ache. Next thing she knows, she was suddenly a mother. In her own words: she was pretty sturdily built.

belly become big enough to for people to notice it’s pregnancy

The shape of the belly is not the only thing that people notice. Especially people who know the woman can see it earlier, and people who look closely and know the signs.

The first time, I was 5’9" and 125lb when I got pregnant, so not like I had anywhere to hide it, but I worked until 6 months without telling anyone and that is when it became impossible to hide.

The subsequent times it happened faster, the belly was noticeable by 4 months or so, I could feel it before anyone else could tell in all cases.

I had a history teacher who was hugely fat - she warned us she would be out on maternity leave, we thought she meant later in the year but she was gone the next week, and when she came back, looked no different at all.
