It actually was. He started Lord of the rings but no publishers wanted to buy it so he wrote the Hobbit as it was shorter and aimed at children so it would be easier to sell and act as a foot in the door to the other books.
There’s a prequel that focuses on Dorothy. They should make that into a movie.
I think it’s called “The Grapes of Wrath”.
Cinematic Universes are the future of cinema! By which I mean it’s all they’re going to make so you better learn to like them.

Ah you know what, fair enough. As much as, to me, all these universes feel like the inauthentic, uncreative, soulless machinations of an algorithm-led profit committee, I’m sure much of the art I like is shitty pretentious drivel to other people.
The world is fucked, everything is hard. If people like this, I’m happy they’ve got something that makes their life feel easier, just for a bit.
Movie makes money, owners receiving profit swear they will seek more money with more products!
Hopefully it’s at least good. My wife will drag me to see this eventually.
