You are what you eat, not you eat what you are
There is very little difference, don’t you think?

Maybe in German. It comes across as so odd in English.
If we are what we eat, then I am vegetables.
If we eat what we are, then I am a cannibal.
In German we have the same saying: „Du bist was du isst“, which sounds much nicer because it rhymes.
Und ihr wisst was es ist!
You are what you consume, is more apt today. Both physically and mentally.
