This is what bothers me the most too. Decades of chest-thumping about liberty and freedom, and now this? It’s pathetic, really.
I mean, we fought a war based on a the premise that all men were created equal, then decided some men were only worth 3/5 of others…
Its honestly strange to see non US people who have bought the propaganda as much or more than some people in the US.
I don’t think many of us did, but we at least expected the average American to buy it, and yet it seems they didn’t.
Hey, I fucking hate this just as much as you do. I’ve voted and participated against these policies at every step of the way, but I am not wealthy or politically powerful, I live in a state where my vote is diluted at the national level (California, one of the states with the highest citizen to representative ratios), and when I try to explain these consequences and dangers, all I get in return is apathy.

I stopped talking to most people I knew because getting “i don’t do politics” as a dead-end to every response is just disheartening.
