The big question ahead of the newest episode was: what would South Park have to say about all this?
The answer is … not much.
The latest instalment, provocatively titled Conflict of Interest, makes no mention of Kirk
:-/
You reckon they delayed the episode about Kirk to thrash something else together so they could release that instead?
IIRC, they’re insanely fast. I think the turnaround time on a South Park episode is about one week, which is utterly ridiculous.
I don’t know if that Kirk episode will ever see the light of day, or if they’ll make any jokes about Kirk at all, especially while the Cheeto is in power. He’s repeatedly shown that he’s not afraid to abuse his authority.
They won’t touch Kirk again for a loooooong time for fear of political retaliation. The Master Debater episode was pretty great though.
These the guys that put Macho Man Randy Savage in as a trans woman?
The guys that drew Mohammed?
The guys who make half a billion dollars.

Yes. Making fun of transgender folks and Muslims won’t threaten your paycheck

What world are you living in where that is true?
It’s hard to have a paycheck when you’re dead, ask the Charlie Hebdo artists.

You were far safer in the Charlie Hebdo office in 2015 than anywhere bordering the state of Israel in 2025.
Besides, Comedy Central got a bunch of empty threats five years earlier.
Three years after the inflammatory posts, it was the organizers of the protest who were criminally convicted and thrown in prison.
Matt and Trey continued to post their own brand of inflammatory rhetoric without consequence.

Are you suggesting that Israel is going to bomb South Park Studios in retaliation or what?
I’m suggesting Israel has bombed vastly more Al Jazeera reporters and AP/Reuters photojournalists than ISIS has bombed Western satirical publications.

Weak episode redeemed by throwing the line that jews aren’t Israel and it killing thousands of people makes American jews face increased antisemithism into the mainstream discourse. I don’t think I’ve heard these obvious dots connected in high-profile media. I’m not mad.
I’ve been screening those points for years.
I think that episode was weak. no mention of AIPAC, focus on Israel rather than the humanitarian crisis.
But I still appreciate that the message of “Israel genocide is not for the welfare of Jews and is in fact generating antisemitism”
I felt this was the weakest of the season. I did love the jab at JD and his ulterior motives, especially after his weird mention of being ready to take over when Trump was in the middle of his disappearing act.
The Netanyahu reveal felt weirdly tacked on and very underwhelming.
I hope the next episode really rocks the boat.
I’d hardly call it a reveal. It was clear from her reaction in the lunch seen that she was appolled by what is happening in Gaza and offended at the notion that she has anything to do with it.
Not really. This episode didn’t really take any jabs at Netenyahu or Israel.
Sure, Sheila ended up criticizing him. And objectively made good points. But the show treated that as the punchline to turning her into the kvetching mother trope.
Certainly is more refreshing in here than the Reddit comments asking why the episode wasn’t a 60 minute political lecture about Israel’s genocide.
Episode did a great job illustrating how all Jews aren’t to blame for Israel and how Israel’s genocide is making Jews around the world less safe, but doesn’t make the key point that the issue is with Israel/Zionism and if Netanyahoo went away tomorrow Israel would still be a genocidal, colonial apartheid state. Overall I’d give it a generous B- just for throwing cold water on a lot of the antisemetic narratives surrounding this genocide.
