Crunchyroll is so weird their whole business is subtitling anime and streaming it but they mess up streaming part semi-regularly.
They also use recently started trying AI translations for less popular stuff like donghua(Chinese anime) without proof-reading.
One recent example had “chatgpt said” directly in subtitles.
These timezones don’t add up. Japan and the east coast (which I assume to revert to the US) are 10h apart. But that’s when is morning in Japan, and evening in the US. In the other direction (the one referred to in the post), the difference is 14h.
That means the Japanese leave at 10 p.m., assuming the Americans start at 8 a.m. Are Crunchyroll employees okay? Blink twice if you are held against your will.
(The post might still be true, but refer to Japan/Europe instead)
Employees in Japan are not okay. They’re often expected to put in extreme overtime, regardless of actual productivity.
You have workers who regularly sleep under their desks, because the work culture is so toxic that they’re low-key punished for daring to have a social life outside of work.
And there’s also a birth rate crisis that’s partially caused by that same toxic work culture.
You’ll sometimes hear buzz about fixing the birth rate crisis, but never anything about the toxic work culture.
Just adopt Universal Greeting Time (UGT).
This is basically the evolution of language in a nutshell.
We tried to move away from hieroglyphics but hieroglyphics pulled us back in.

“Wrex.”

Good Maen. I’ve been pushing “maen” in my private chats for years. It’s an initialism of Morning, Afternoon,Evening, Night.
I think it’s pretty fetch.
