The reason it looks like a data clean is because it is done for all of Lebanon, all houses, and township names are missing, but several secondary data sources are still available, like restaurants and other POI.
There’s virtually no way Apple is that data poor in just one entire country in 2026.

Look around on their maps app. Lebanon is the only country with a full primary data swipe but with secondary data still intact.
It makes a lot of sense Apple would remove this. They support Trump, and Trump supports Israel. Moreover the largest backdoor security firms are of course Israeli too, so they have some leverage to make big privacy company without very tough security dance to their tunes.
Look at the actual satellite data, and you’ll see what they are doing.
