Just a small handful, no big deal.
Just a small handful, no big deal.
Even then, most of California was predominantly Hispanic from the mid 1700s onward. When the Spaniards came to Baja California in the mid 1750s, they established 5 Franciscan missions in baja, along with 21 missions between San Diego and just north of the bay. They mixed with the indigenous population, who then became known as Californios. It wasn’t until white people started showing up just prior to and especially during the gold rush, with then California becoming a US state in 1850. Even then, it wasn’t until the late 1800s/early 1900s that California became predominantly white, and that was primarily due to the sheer number of white folks that moved west in such numbers that eclipsed the local Hispanic population.
I don’t know about y’all, but I haven’t felt represented my entire life. I’m just waiting to see an old wooden ship unloading some tea on a harbor dock and then it’s on like Donkey Kong.
Buttered Toast and Recursive Folder Shenanigans
That’s actually pretty clever in a real sadistic way
All of Southern California really.
My favorite is when dickhead white folks say they want “all the brown people to go back where they came from,” without the slightest clue that they were here first, and then they get real pissy when you point that fact out.
Not true, my wife and I did our paperwork a few weeks ago and they’re due to arrive this week. Granted we paid for expedited, but they’re moving along.
Box goes up and down, takes you with.
“How many hydraulic levers you need?”
“All of them”
“How many hydraulic-driven pieces of equipment does your rig have?”
“Mind your own business”
Ah, the original grifters for thousands of years.
Europe and Japan all have freight trucks driving around, so I don’t buy that. The fact that many states won’t allow these is American truck manufacturing protectionism, nothing more. It’s the same reason you can only get a 3/4 or 1 ton truck from Ford, Chevy, or Ram (chicken tax).
They’re using bullshit metrics to make everything seem peachy keen, and help older folks maintain faith in the current system. That’s really all fluff pieces like this are good for. “Oh, 50% of parents are shelling out about $1500/month to keep their kids afloat, but everything is fine because they have a college degree!” Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that everything is not fine, but rags like NBC are just trying to keep people spending and keep the gravy train going. It isn’t propaganda in the way Fox News is, but it’s still propaganda.
