That makes sense. Good to know I probably haven’t been doing anything illegal by carrying a swiss army knife in the S Bahn

I live in central europe but still would never think twice about leaving the house or entering a tram with a knife in my backpack. I think I actually do still have a swiss army knife in there somewhere that I’ve been carrying literally anywhere I go for the last couple years.
To me it’s a little strange to compare knives, which are primarily tools, to firearms that are from start to finish designed for the sole purpose of killing and injuring living things. My life would be worse without knives, I use them every single day. But I’ve never required a gun for anything

Yeah but I’m pretty sure I can also just put a knife in my pocket and leave my house without doing anything illegal in the process, so I’m wondering why there needs to be an exemption.
Edit: Also pretty sure everyone is forbidden from using knives offensively not just Sikhs

Digwa stabbed Nowak with a knife he said he was permitted to carry due to exemptions for Sikhs to have ceremonial daggers.
I don’t understand this, isn’t anyone “permitted” to carry a knife wherever they want to in public? Why do they call it an exemption
Edit: Since I’m guessing the answer is “not in the UK” my follow up question would be how do people buy knives there? Do they have to dodge the cops on their way home from the store?
70k is 3,5k/mo after taxes in my country. Doesnt really matter where you live with that you could be paying 2500 in rent and still be loaded for the month. Look all I’m saying is this O’Leary guy is a fucking prick and most people never see 70k in their lifetime
Yeah the fact that the wages are stagnating is another thing, I’m just saying from where me and most of the people of all ages in my life are standing, 70k is a lot.
It’s insulting that this guy says 70k like it’s a low salary (for “kids” as he says). I make a quarter of that. I also know a lot more retired old people who never made close to that in their lifetime than ones who did make that much
And if I did make that much it would still feel insulting because I’m pretty sure most people making 70k can easily afford weekly $28 lunches…
Edit: Just saw that this motherfucker is wearing two expensive watches on the photo… absolutely repulsive person

The last two points are very valid but I think the fake engine noise while driving is pretty important for safety, no? Personally, I cant drive and usually get around by bike or on foot where a car that’s totally silent can be dangerous if you don’t see it coming

A kWh is also more like 24 cents these days and not 30,85
If women’s boxers worked like the pricing in the photo it’d be 5 women’s for $20 and 1 men’s for $4

Yes you’re right, I agree with you that the conditions are very different because of the reasons you mentioned and the other financial factors like food and rent are probably different too. I admit my original comment comes of very ignorant rereading it now a couple hours later, sorry about that

A Gallon is 4 Liters right? I just checked the current Diesel price in my country and it’s at 9.80USD/Gallon. I hate to agree with the Donald here, but those prices are actually peanuts.
Well I make 15k and I feel poor. If I made 4-5x that I would no longer feel poor and could comfortably support not just myself but also theoretically my partner and a kid or two if I wanted to.
But I still agree with everything you’re saying. We’re all getting sucked dry by the system and forced to toil our lives away for asshats like the guy in the Post who happen to own our workplace. The exploitation does not vanish with higher wages. And of course the costs of healthcare and education in the USA are way higher than where I live
