PRO TIP: Make scrambled eggs in a coffee cup. Great trick for a meal at work!

Crack the egg in a coffee cup, add a dash of water and vinegar, whip up with a fork, cover with a paper towel, nuke it for X seconds. 90 seconds seemed about right last time I did this, YMMV.

No idea why the vinegar and paper towel are needed, but it don’t cook right without those elements. 🤷🏻 I sometimes use Tabasco for the vinegar addition.

I’ve made microwaved hard-boiled eggs exactly twice. The first time they came out perfectly. The second time they exploded with so much force the door blew open, despite me doing everything exactly the same. I will never microwave eggs again, but I’m happy for your success

I was told that the trick is to not have the egg in its shell.

Take a cup, fill it one third with water, then crack your egg in the cup. Now it can’t build up pressure, it can’t explode.

It microwaved without exploding. As I took it out of the microwave, it exploded. It went everywhere. The floor, the ceiling, every cabinet door. I count myself lucky that I didn’t get boiling hot egg in my eyes.

Also, the noise attracted attention from everybody in the house, no way to just discretely clean it up before anyone noticed my stupid experiment.

Oh, it can. I tried this, just without water.

This. Thread. Is. Useless. Without. Pics 🤣🤣🤣

That sounds like superheated water to me. When you heat water in a microwave it can reach temperatures above 100C without boiling, if you disturb the water in that state it boils instantly and explodes.

I do it frequently, but I open the egg and put its contents to teamug and microwave that. I can put multiple eggs in a single mug. This way I don’t have to mess with hot shell, and I won’t burn my fingers.

Microwaves have “hotspots”. They usually have a rotating platter inside, to expose the contents more evenly to it. Smaller things, can cook differently depending on placement.

😁😁 Will do! I thought an alien chestbuster figure would fit perfectly on top of the egg.
