The world of 2025 is not the same one of decades earlier: Americans don’t like the undue influence of corporate power; they want their government to do more for them; they’re tired of war; they’ve been devastated by decades of offshoring and austerity; and, as they have made repeatedly clear, they’re not fans of the Clinton family.

The Republicans cover several of these points.

Voters also care about crime and immigration.

What the democratic elite doesn’t get is the working class has more socially conservative values.

I would argue that they aren’t more conservative, they are in a bad place and looking for someone with answers. The Democrats have essentially preached status quo for the last decade. Many working class voters look at where they are and look at the party looking to keep things the same, and they either vote for the other party or don’t vote at all.

If someone was to offer non-fascist solutions to the problems most of the working class are having, I suspect we would be talking about how the working class has swung left.

I am not saying conservatives are the right choice for the working class by any means, but the perception by many is that they are looking to break the status quo in a world where most people feel like they are worse off than they could be.

They are more conservative in the following points:

        • traditional family is important
        • religion is important
        • hard work needs to be rewarded
        • most rich people are there by merit
        • criminals deserve punishment

Elite leftists love to harp on the bigotry of white evangelicals, but completely ignore the religious and anti LGBT beliefs of Hispanics and African-Americans for example.

So conservatives manage to appeal to the working class with culture war rhetoric and morality. Even though their economic and other policies are worse for them.

Democrats don’t have a great track record either. Cities that have been ruled by Democrats for decades have lots of homelessness, crime, high cost of living, unaffordable rents, and so on. Democratic policies have failed to end the misery that is black urban areas for decades for example.

On the other hand the democrats are also losing the growing number of overeducated underachieving folks, who increasingly look further to the left. They often claim to follow intersectional politics for everyone preaching according to the most virtuous trends, but then fail to build coalitions to actually change things. The only thing these knowledge worker elites managed, is to get hired as consultants, PR, and HR people. So yeah, there are bluehaired trans folks present in every media now. That doesn’t improve material conditions for the working class one bit. These serving virtue politics (aka wokeism) only helps a fraction of people, mostly the small class of overeducated knowledge capitalists.

Oh hey look at that, another SJW user out in the wild doing fascist apologia. That sure is an odd trend they have going on over there with the nazi memes and apologetics. Is that the “working class” instance for the “socially conservative” or just a coincidence?

    We are so fucked.

ETA: the one-two punch of Reagan-Clinton (with a Reagan-lite thrown inbetween) will go down as the most destructive period in US history. People today screaming apocalypse over Trump dont know how much we lost in that 20 year period of pure, unmitigated middle-class hatred. Truly the most avoidable and most severe downfall of an empire in history.

Not really. There’s no way Dems don’t sweet midterms and stop Trump in his tracks. He’s probably not leaving office alive one way or another. We just need better candidates to take the next steps is the problem.

Jbfc, they’re all ghoulish caricatures. How tf are they real people? They must be gaining something by tanking the DNC.
