But then why do the Republicans look like child sex predators? Idk, maybe they should’ve voted to release the documents anyway, unless they are actually the predators.

I mean fair to say, the democrats do have the free cheats overall…

Same as what happened with the public option etc… In short there were at least 4 capital D democrats forming an anti public option caucus. What’s the story for why the vote never happened… Liberman the independent wouldn’t get on board, they were one vote behind no matter what so there was no point going forward.

now same here with the epstein files… IMO I’d say most likely 95% of the house of representatives is probably not in these files, and I’d also say it’s fair to say there’s not many Democrats still in service on the list (obviously the biggest name dem that’s almost certainly on the list is Clinton).

That Being said I’m sure there’s major donors on both sides of the aisle that are going to pressure the hell out of their representatives to prevent the list from seeing the light of day.

All in all I actually wonder how the dem’s would have voted had there been a few republicans that were brave enough to defect. Congress usually knows the result of the vote before it happens, it’s pretty rare to switch it up. But on the other hand, it would also be political suicide to be a lone or minority defector in your party. That’s why the republicans are so good at making a united front, in spite of many of them publicly voicing opposition to the very things they vote for.

I think Lemmy has been taken over in the last few weeks.

Comments like this would be 100% upvoted at the top, and now it’s “a debate” or “you could have said that kinder”

Of course the Dems are on the files. They are “making an effort” because it’s a political no brainer. They now GOP will block it and look bad doing it, and they can campaign on that they wanted it released.

Those files are the reason we only have 5 frames of whatever impacted the pentagon, why Trump was never held accountable for any of his serious crimes, and how the entire cabal works.

If you can keep them quiet with kompromat, you control the entire state. How is this not bleeding obvious for anyone with half a brain?

Where do we go now that Lemmy is becoming another Reddit?

Yes, the ones that didn’t campaign on exactly this topic, releasing the files. I believe they should be released but this whataboutism is just silly.

This is not whataboutism. It’s pointing out hypocrisy of a party that is over the last 8 years have first failed at holding DJT accountable and now are actively collaborating on enabling his authoritarian state by first confirming his incompetent cabinet, then by voting for his bills and now trying to placate voters by “doing an effort” to release the files.

Not to mention railing against democratic candidates who have popular support in their own party.

There’s a broader context, but you know that or you wouldn’t start swearing the second someone disagrees with you.

It may be all those things, but it doesn’t change that it is whataboutism. I’m not here defending anybody. They should have built a case and prosecuted it when they had the chance. In fact, even though typically straight up releasing files like this while there is pending prosecution is a huge mistake, I still think they should have been released.

But only one group campaigned on this to this extent, then did a complete about-face to cover it up.

And I’m sorry for using harsh language; I thought that was allowed around here.

What the fuck are you talking about? That is precisely what happened here. Most of these republican goons got their base frothing at the mouths over these documents, holding up binders, going on talk shows and news shows, literally claiming they’d release these documents. And now they aren’t.

There was an entire term prior to Biden you dolt. That’s what the fuck I’m talking about. Didn’t shore up SS or medicare trust funds either, but hey it was only four years long I know.

Sure. I mean, releasing the Epstein files is critical to supporting the working people. O wait.
