With voters on the left split across a wide Democratic field, Our Revolution says it backed Tom Steyer to avoid handing the seat to a Republican.

I mean, couldn’t you just endorse a progressive instead? Are you telling me there aren’t any in Cali-fucking-fornia?

This is the real effect of Citizens United, making elections so expensive that the wealthy become the leaders by default.

CA is essentially a corporatist technocrat oligarchy with leftist window dressing. But there aren’t any windows, because it’s a data center.

It’s fucking bleak. Supposedly we’re the most “commie” state but we have nothing really progressive.

Read up on him, he’s not rags to riches but on a different planet than anyone the Dems would ever put forward https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Steyer

The only thing worth reading on those people is what assassinated journalists wrote (cough cough Panama Papers cough cough), the rest is just what their PR teams put out there to fabricate their images. There are no good nor different billionaires.

So you didn’t vote in order to own the libs, and you’re still defending that decision?

It’s amazing how they downvote the person who was right the entire time. Then ban you for being right.

Quit blaming other people for your failures, dems lost to Trump because they actively chose to suck ass in order to please their billionaire owners

It ain’t your job to educate me, but if I can ask anyways, why would one opt to not vote out of principle? I went n’ looked it up, yet the only mention of it being a conscious decision are spotty, single sentences. Everything else seems to focus on the socioeconomic difficulties people can experience.

To me, it would seem that voting for a non-mainstream party would be optimal if you don’t trust the two-party system, wouldn’t it?

I can’t speak for u/stabby_cicada but i’ve frequently run into a simple logical fallacy based on the circular reasoning that (not enough people vote for a third party so ) “a third-party will never win.” Therefore people refuse to vote third-party.

If someone is not willing to get involved and organize, run for office themselves, or any one of many different ways to influence the system, voting is literally the easiest thing they can do. Even people who are actively shaking up the system should also be doing this bare minimum thing.

So if the goal is not to vote in order to protest the blah blah blah… No one will know or care about their protest unless they mention how they don’t vote as often as possible.

The problem with this is its they’re either seeking validation and trying to seem morally superior, or they are trying to influence others not to vote. Either way, I hate when people brag about not voting, it should be something you’re ashamed of.

Unfortunately Our Progressive was hijacked and it is chalk full neo liberals. Truly said it could have been the hope for a new Progressive Party. Instead the DNC sent in an implanted their ilk to destroy the organization. So not shocked they are doing this.

People who don’t think PACs should fund campaigns and themselves refuse to donate to campaigns are surprised when a billionaire runs for office.
