A British woman who was shot dead by her father while visiting his home in Texas had argued with him about US President Donald Trump earlier that day, an inquest has heard.

Lucy Harrison, from Warrington in Cheshire, was shot in the chest on 10 January 2025 in Prosper, near Dallas.

Police in the town investigated the 23-year-old’s death as possible manslaughter but no criminal case was brought against Kris Harrison after a grand jury in Collin County declined to indict him.

An inquest into Lucy Harrison’s death opened earlier at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, where her boyfriend Sam Littler described the “big argument” about Trump, who was preparing to be inaugurated for his second term of office.

Harrison said he could not recall whether his finger was on the trigger.

I do not like Glocks. Quite simply, I prefer pistols with a manual safety which Glocks do not have. That said, a Glock WILL NOT FIRE unless your finger is on the trigger. A Glock’s safety mechanism is on the trigger itself.

If you are going to own a firearm, GO TO TRAINING. Trigger discipline should be muscle memory so that even piss drunk you keep your finger off the goddamn trigger until youbare ready to pull. If the guy was trained in firearm use, then he 100% murdered his daughter on purpose.

MAGA is a cult and its members are mentally ill.

Yeah, there is perhaps no pistol more known for unequivocally not firing unless the trigger is fully pressed from the center. There are in fact three different independent safeties in a glock. Man murdered his daughter, I do not accept complete ignorance of firearm use as a defense for someone who owns a gun and chose to pull out a loaded weapon and point it at someone.

I don’t disagree, I just wanted to point out that “the gun just went off” is absolute bullshit with a Glock. The rest is just me being way too generous. Best case scenario (for him), because it was a Glock, he should have been charged with involuntary or negligent manslaughter. If they charge parents for leaving a gun unlocked which leads to a child’s death, then why the hell would they nit charge that piece of shit.

I read the rest of the article, I regret it. Earlier that day his daughter had asked him how he would feel if one of the women Trump sexually assaulted had been her and he responded he had two other daughters who lived with him so he wouldn’t be all that bothered. What a piece of shit. Oh also he’d relapsed and had a bottle box of wine. Checks out.

Am I understanding this correctly, that the Glock safety is on the trigger itself? That seems really fucked up. Other than meeting a technicality, it useless, no?

It means the only way for it to fire is to fully pull the trigger it can’t “go off for no reason”

The gun also had to be loaded and cocked…

If a person is trained to use a firearm then both styles are effective, but yes a glock is more dangerous around idiots because they think it won’t fire and they have no trigger discipline.

Can anybody buy a gun like this? I appreciate laws will vary between states. If so shouldn’t there be safety measure to idiot proof killing devices?

In america yes. Its not legal to conceal and carry without a permit but buying one isn’t much trouble. We have decided guns are on the honor system.

I did last week, and walked out with it that day. I had 6 hours of instruction very focused on safety and discipline. Most I tried had safeties like this, not at all just glocks.

And I’ve seen multiple threads online insisting people should keep their gun loaded and chambered at home, even though they’ll likely never need it for defense, and it takes under 2 seconds to slap in a mag and cock it. And if the gun were pre-cocked, it would just chamber automatically anyway.

So, I just bought a handgun, after 6 hours of range instruction time, and we tried a bunch of makes. Only one of them had a regular non-trigger safety.
