Would be great if there was actual context in this lede. The yasuguni shrine houses the remains of actual war criminals, generals that ordered the mass rape and murder in Nanjing. The far right in Japan go to that shrine to pray. It’s like the Hitler did nothing wrong meme. So to host a pokemon event there is just using good pop culture to normalize extremely fascist ideas.
