What am I supposed to be buying to treat myself once in a while if I can’t afford to go to a proper restaurant? Or are you suggesting there are cheaper burgers than McDonald’s shit?
No judgement for choosing to eat fast food, but in my experience/area, yes there are cheaper options. Fast food prices over the past 10 years have leap-frogged local small business prices while still being much lower quality. I’d look around at your local joints and see if it’s the same as my area
I thought I might finally escape this dumb myth when I left reddit, but no…

This. Is. Not. How. Taxes. Work.
When you make a donation at a store, that is your donation. You can claim that donation on your taxes.
Dang and i thought I’d get away from the corporate simping when I left reddit.
Does Ronald paint his dick white too?
I just tried to do my own research and instead all I found were corporate press releases about it and a FLOOD of people complaining that they were rounded up without permission. Like, thats all that comes up when you start looking for recepits that include the donation. Yikes, guess I’m going to have to demand my receipt every time and double check they’re not just STEALING from me instead. Maybe 16 year old fast food workers just shouldn’t have a ‘randomly charge me extra’ button at all.
Thanks, redditor, but I’m definitely going to repeat the lie later. And you’re going to keep getting white paint all over your face.
They need to get the fuck away from the cash register with their corporate beggaring. The gall of some billion dollar company to flash sick kids up on screen every time you open your wallet is insane. Do you think the billionaires in their yachts that were paid for by big macs are looking at sick kids when they’re served hors d’oeuvres?
And here you are, another fucking Poor, rambling on about tHaT not HoW tAXeS wOrK. I bet Ronald smacks you while you’re down there.
I dunno’, if you’re buying McDonald’s overpriced flavorsponge products, you can’t be that needy. (not that McD’s deserves the round up what so ever)
Such a stupid take.

I don’t eat it daily. My local joints are selling proper burgers with real meat and they cost twice as much.
tbf if it’s US-sourced it’s still probably barely fit for human consumption
Something actually good?
rofl a proper restaurant is the same fucking price depending on where you live, but you go pay for those flavored sponges.
Fucking pathetic losers sypporting megacorps, holy fuck ya’ll are beyond a joke.
To be fair, the Ronald McDonald House is a fairly good charity, at least in my opinion. They were very helpful when my newborn son was in the NICU.
To be fair, you aren’t donating anything when you round up. You are simply being charged more, and McDonald’s makes a higher profit.
Then they get a fat tax break for taking the extra profits they weaseled from you and donating it to…their own charity.
That’s actually not true, and a common misconception. When you choose to pay more to support a charity, including rounding up, you can actually claim that on your taxes. It shows as a donation on your receipt. (Though probably no one bothers because you’d have to itemize your tax return and include all the receipts).
Businesses do it because it makes them look good, not because they get a tax break for it.
til! thank you :)

This is extra funny because I haven’t given McDonald’s a cent in years.

Not to defend McDonalds but RMH is one of the best charities out there.
You should look them up; the Ronald McDonald House is the one thing that McDonald’s does correctly. They are worth it.
