That’s one of those general election issues where they only pull out of storage just before the general election. Like gay rights, abortion, wages. And fold them up neatly and stow them away until the next general election.
How do some folks get so passionate about politics, but still know nothing about how their own government works?
Only half the Democrats in the House supported it, so it was never going to pass. Not unless more than half of Republicans decided to rebel against their own party and join Progressives. And that’s not even including the Senate vote.
The only way Medicare for All is ever going to happen, is if every single Democrat in the House AND the Senate all unanimously vote for it…while they have control of BOTH houses…and a president in office that isn’t going to veto it.
Anything less than that, and all this bellyaching about holding a vote on it, is literally just a waste of time.
You’re forgetting about SCOTUS. They could decide that Medicaid is unconstitutional because of $reasons and scrap it.
Your comment illustrates the dysfunction of government allowed by voters. Voters view politicians as leaders and not public servants that deserve to lose their jobs if they refuse to listen to their constituents.
Ummm, no dude. This is just civics if you don’t understand the mechanics behind passing legislation, you will never get what you want. You seem to think there’s some magical element involved, where legislation should automatically match public opinion…but the truth is, you have to actually run candidates that share your opinion to represent you in Congress, in order for them to vote the way you want them to.
If you aren’t willing to do the work to make government match your expectations, then you shouldn’t be surprised when things don’t go your way. It’s literally the definition of insanity to expect different outcomes, without altering any of the variables.
Sounds like reform bullshit
smh. There’s that magical thinking I was talking about.
Unless you’re planning on starting a brand new country somewhere else, then you have to use the system that actually exists. Or are you one of those psychopaths that thinks they’re going to solve everything in the world just by murdering millions of people who disagree with you?
Let us know when that system starts working for the working class
If you don’t organize, it never will. That’s why it’s important to understand how the system works, so that you can make it work to your advantage.

Do you know what government powdered milk tastes like? What it feels like to put back food because you don’t have enough food stamps? I’m not talking EBT, I’m talking the actual paper stamps. Do you know what it’s like as a child watching your mother cry because they don’t know if there’s gonna be money for rent? The struggles I and my family faced 50 years ago are still being felt by families with the exact same struggles today. In that same time there have been 24 years of Democrats in office and not a god damned thing has changed except now the struggle is harder. So you can fuck off with that ‘have never known hard times’ bullshit. It’s shitlibs like yourself that are comfortable and are willingly blind to the privileges you hold under the status quo despite it causing harm to the working class.

That would be great if true.
The only time you get a say is in the primary. After that, with FPTP voting, you only get to vote against the worst candidate. By that point, there’s no improving the selection.
And they don’t hold primaries for incumbents.
Every candidate should be primaried especially incumbents. Why should they be entitled to keep a job they may not deserve to keep? Every president should be 1 and done, no second term
What do you expect right now? GOP has control of the house of representatives, the Senate, and the presidency. Vote.
Btw gay rights, trans rights, abortion, etc. - no one cared. Bill Clinton was right: It’s the economy stupid. The next election will be only about the economy. Everything else is gone because voters never show up for it. Any progress you ever want in the future including green energy, gone for at least 16 years. No one showed up for it. It’ll only be about the economy.
Voters don’t show up when you promise them fuckall or even worse; republican policy and messaging.
Do you think more voters showed up when Kamala started talking about tax breaks for small businesses, having cops talking at the DNC, and started yelling about the “tHe mOsT lEtHaL miLiTaRy eVar!!”? Half the people I talked to phone banking in 2020 thought Biden supported all the things people were literally rioting in support of because the republicans were against it.
Vote for what? The same party that does not want Medicare for all or any form of universal health care? Voters may want Medicare for all or universal health care, but the party does not. The answer to the exact same people that Republicans answer to. And do everything in their power to protect profit.
If it were about the economy voters would have demanded a primary to Biden.
Just wait until you here how awesome Trump’s new healthcare plan is. It’s supposed to the the biggest, the best, the strongest, the most complete health plan ever to be conceived.
Whataboutism.

Using whataboutism comparing reality to an ideal is a insane misuse of the term.
If the Dems were a controlled opposition party, would they be acting notably different?
