EVEN IN YOUR OWN FUCKING COUNTRY a self styled socialist just won an election in New York City. Honestly man? You’re just plain ass wrong.

I’m sorry but this annoys the shit out of me when people in white imperialist countries say this shit. Leftists have won elections in so many countries but the Americanized idea that you can’t be left of liberal if you want to win elections in a moronic party system that has only been imposed and perpetuated by THIS EXACT LINE OF THINKING is frustrating as fuck for those of us who don’t live there.

Winning elections by itself doesn’t defeat fascism. Most of the countries that won by elections during the Cold War had their leaders deposed and had fascists installed because they were helpful to US interests. That is the entire point of this post. Just voting doesnt do fuck all to stop fascism.

It absolutely does. If a fascist can win a legitimate election then the people are choosing fascism and that’s always a possibility. In that scenario there will not be enough people to stop fascism because the majority voted for fascism.

For a movement to end fascism it has to have the majority of the population supporting it. Meaning voting is the first step to making the population pick a side.

Right, so after voting doesn’t work, and a fascist state is installed, you just allow fascism to take hold until the next time you get to vote? If you do?

Also I can’t think of a single time that fascism has won a legitimate democratic election. But feel free to enlighten me and I’ll get back to you about it tomorrow. Maybe I’m wrong.

Do they win elections though? When they do nothing with that win other than shift further to the right and lock in right wing policy with their ratchet effect, it’s not a win but a capitulation

I’m a white liberal and I think civil disobedience, violence against officials/ice, and revolution work.

Surely most people have realized by now the Democratic officials (most, anyway) are actually Republicans.

    They won’t help us.

Poll approval numbers seem to indicate most Americans are aware of this.

Many are ramping up to take matters into their own hands if the legal way continues to not be used appropriately to fix the issue.

I wish it was possible to try to vote away fascists and do direct action at the same time. Sadly we live in a binary, do one thing at a time world…

So how else is it going to work? Do you think violent authoritarianism is a solution to overcome violent authoritarianism?
