To clarify, I do not enjoy this either, but its more of a comment about the state of affairs. The fact that we’ve become so desensitized that everything feels unreal/surreal, the events feel almost as if it were a movie. Hence “popcorn”. Its a sarcastic comment, not to be taken seriously. Its like how people laughs when something bad is about to happen, its nervous-laughter, a response to trauma. Sorry if you interpreted this comment this wrong way.
I’m also American, but I’m not white and I wasn’t born here in the US, I cannot afford to intervene. I’m also being persecuted by my previous country, and I can’t really put myself on the radar for two governments to come after me and my family/relatives, some of which aren’t citizens yet, so I’m bit of in a “Snowden” type situation, sorry, but I can’t do much. I’m afraid to go outside because xenophobes would tell me to “go home”.
