Summary

House Republicans advanced a procedural rule to block a vote on overturning Donald Trump’s newly imposed chaotic tariffs, embedding the measure in unrelated budget legislation.

The rule delays a Democratic resolution opposing Trump’s April 2 national emergency declaration, which enabled sweeping tariffs—paused for most countries but raised to 125% for China.

Democrats condemned the move as an attempt to dodge oversight, while Speaker Mike Johnson tried to defend it as supporting “America First” trade policy.

It’s really so telling who is worried about losing their influence here by not having a public vote. These shitheads want to not be held accountable for this mess and keep their grifts.

Again, everything that Trump and the GOP are doing is everything you would only do if you thought you’d never face repercussions, accountability, or fair elections ever again.

Since Gingrich, Republicans were especially vocal and greedy, but it wasn’t until COVID that I realized just how fucked our country is given how many hateful idiots support this behavior.

I’m not talking about classically conservative-minded folks who ultimately want the same thing as me, btw. Those people are fine, and even a good balance to a small extent.
