Good time to remind everyone that the virgin soil hypothesis is almost entirely a myth and 99% of native Indians did NOT die from introduced diseases only though it might have been a contributing factor

I didn’t know that… But I find them to be inspiring if anything.
You cannot believe how much I would want that!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pueblo_Revolt
During the Spanish colonization of the Pueblo peoples of New Mexico, the Franciscan missionaries and Spanish authorities tried to ban various aspects of traditional Pueblo life. This included many of their religious rituals like dances and Kachina dolls. A Tewa indian known as Pope organized a revolt among the various Pueblo peoples. This was difficult to organize as they lived in villages apart from each other and many spoke completely unrelated languages. However, in order to help organizing the revolt, runners were sent to the surrounding villages with a cord with knots. Each day the runners would release a knot and when they were all undone the revolt would start. The Pueblo Revolt succeeded, kicked the Spanish out, and became one of the first successful revolts against a European colonial power.
Today, many aspects of Pueblo life that Pope protected are still practiced by the Pueblo peoples.

Do the Breivik manoeuvre and set up a sketchy agricultural company.

Honestly, Linux Mint was a complete no brainer that EVERYONE pointed me towards. Same with Cinnamon.

1·17 days agoOnce again, you can’t really compare these two. Especially since all the modern countries that descend from the axis powers relinquished the territories they conquered and have often even payed compensations to their former victims.
By that metric neither does the pre Vatican II church before 1965
I am not to comment on that more than: that comparison doesn’t make sense.
But they absolutely exist
Not really.
and do the thing that you said nobody does.
What did I say nobody does?

This applies to Japan
And they are widely criticised, like they should be.

2·17 days agoYes, previous Popes have said the opposite, but not this one
He will still promote many of their previous campaigns and the individuals perpetrating them as necessary or good.
Most people I know recognize how fucked up it’s been (and still is).
I disagree. I have been reading up on the Spanish mission system and have multiple times been shocked by how even secular progressives will whitewash the missions to the end of the earth.

1·17 days agoYou can’t really compare the Vatican to WW2. But if you did, imagine if the axis powers still existed and got to keep most of their territories while telling their neighbours they just wanted peace but also promoting their generals and crimes as heroic and necessary.

13·18 days agoFrancis beatified Junipero Serra (among others), so that’s a huge minus in my book. But I guess the bar is in the toilet.
Also, don’t anyone else feel statements like these are hugely hypocritical? The catholic church has benefited from the waging of war against non-christians for most of it’s history to the point previous churchmen has created entire theologies of justified war. Now when they lead a great population of followers they can pretend to be peace loving hippies.
Remember, the last time a people had catholicism forced on them as the consequence of war was when Chile conquered the Mapuche in 1883 and placed them in reservations and worked to convert them.
