where? I’ve lived in Dryden Ontario, Toronto, Kitchener, etc and I’ve NEVER met or known a single person that said they loved curling and watched it.

in my 40+ years being Canadian i’ve YET to meet another fellow canuck that enjoys or watches curling. never. and yet they’ll show the absolute shit out of it on TV here. I don’t get it. We even have god damn curling clubs everywhere and I STILL have yet to meet anyone that loves it and plays it.

It’s just so bizarre. finding a hockey fan or simply someone who has played hockey? sure no prob, we all played as kids. But curling? never. I don’t get it. I think it’s some Canadian conspiracy or something. Like for decades the Canadian government has been trying to push curling on us to make it popular or something and no one plays it. no one watches it. but you see it all the god damn time.

Whenever I use Plasma I feel like I spend more time getting my windows arranged correctly across both my monitors with different workspaces. if each monitor had it’s own set of virtual desktops then it would be the perfect DE.

I mean if I had it my way everyone would just go back to IRC, I still use IRC. it’s great, nothings changed, it’s perfect. combine that with like mumble or teamspeak and you’re good to go.

I checked out Stoat lastnight and it’s very slow. took well over an hour to get a verification email (I assume because many others were signing up) and the current server offerings are minimal. Also a good majority of the themes listed simply don’t work. it’s growing and I’d say it’s the best alternative right now but it’s not there yet and I worry it or the various instances of it could hold up if there was a massive Discord exodus.

Matrix is a no and xmpp ain’t much better.

It’s not so much about being “smart” to figure it out, it’s more like it needs to “click” with you. At first you’ll think it’s stupid, you’ll think it’s a tedious way to do things and configure your system. Then you’ll do something and it’ll suddenly be like “oooooh I get it now, oh man that’s awesome!”. That’s NixOS.

It’s not a distro I recommend to people, it’s one you just have to play around with yourself to see if you like it or not. But I will say I’ve found that the majority of people who do switch to it, it’s the last distro they use. Like I’ll spend a week on something else every few months to try it but I always go back to NixOS now. I just can’t use any other distro long term anymore.

nah I find it boring now and it turns into a mess very quickly. only reason I was on Arch is cause i needed a “vacation” from NixOS to get a project done. project is done so went back to NixOS.

I don’t know what it’s like in Houston but here in Toronto the entire food delivery industry would pretty much come to a stand still without e-bikes. do they kill people? no. are they dangerous? I’m sorry but with the way some of those dudes drive those things on sidewalks and the amount of times i’ve seen them hit people…yeah. We’ve also had a few literally blow up on commuter trains to the point where we out right banned them on trains.

There’s more to this that I don’t think people realize. no they don’t kill people but yes they do cause accidents because of the people driving them and feeling like they can ride them on sidewalks or…you know…the batteries will randomly explode.
