It also depends how long they have to pay. The recent $18B settlement must be paid over 10 years. So that basically doesn’t matter to a company like Meta.

Interestingly enough, even when these nations differ in terms of their dominant religions, cultural factors, and histories, they unite in their mission to undermine democracy around the world.

This is captured perfectly in Anne Applebaum’s Autocracy Inc

Maybe a hotel development deal would change their minds.

Hopefully they aren’t given 10 years to pay it off like the recent $18B fine for harming children.

I can’t find the Florida article right now. But foreign influencers are also pushing this narrative and getting paid by Facebook for doing so.

Hopefully that Florida based company pumping out Alberta separatist propaganda isn’t successful.
This does not support my asinine pro-pitbull stance. Downvote! 🤦♂️
As the linked source notes, “These breeds of dogs are stocky and have one of the strongest jaws of any type of dog.” Thus, the difficult link between genetics and behaviour (which the pro pitbull camp relies very heavily on) can be ignored. The basic fact is pitbulls are built in such a way that they can do significantly more damage than other breeds when engaging in a common behaviour exhibited by al dogs (i.e., biting).
Right, but what about the genetic factors impacting physiological features that augment damage (e.g., jaw strength)? The worst imaginable chihuahua owner could never result in the types of dog attack victims that “bad” pitbull owners can produce.

Canadian wildfire smoke went south of the border and Trump responds with tariffs (instead of help with the fires). So I guess we know how Canada should respond to the increase in American coal pollution that will inevitably enter Canadian airspace.

This is exactly why I posted it here. Pretty hard to argue that another Trump term (or a Trump adjacent individual being elected) via this violation of basic democratic principles would not have global implications.

This can’t be legal, right? Either way, keep pumping that national debt!

I can’t wait for the carbrain victim complex to conjure up complaints of being punished for speeding. In Ontario, there were drivers (publicly, in news articles) saying that they’re essentially too distracted while driving to keep track of the speed limit and their speed relative to it. This was their argument against speed cameras. Incredible.
How do these countries determine who is their enemy? What common factor unites Russia and Iran, for example?
