The closest place to take plastic last I checked was over an hour away by car.
Unfortunately, plastics recycling was largely a scam perpetrated by various business concerns to whitewash their image. Actual plastics recycling is a pretty toxic process as I understand it, and at some point the world’s largest importer (China) no longer accepted used plastic.
I agree with the other suggestion that holding local and regional politicians to account is probably the most useful step overall.
EDIT: Oh, sorry, one immediate, hands-on thing you can do as an apt-dweller (fist-bump) is to start up a window herb garden. It doesn’t take much to do at a basic level. :D

Kinda reminds me of modern TEVA sandals for men-- for whatever reason, there’s this useless extra margin around my walking-sandal, which might be as much as ".5 extra all around. It winds up making my shoe footprint that much larger than my actual foot, which sorta makes me feel like I’m wearing boats for shoes, at times.
It’s also caused me to trip on things and almost fall down, a couple times. Because of that useless extra margin.
Funnily enough, I was in a bit of a bind at one point, needed to buy whatever a local store happened to have, and wound up going with a pair of KEEN womens’ shoe-sandals. Those things are awesome IMO. They conform exactingly to my foot, and I actually feel more athletic and foot-safe, just wearing them.
Based on what I’m seeing of these golden slippers (particularly the strap), kid Tut’s actual feet might have been almost half the size of the actual shoe, lol.
Cue Truman Show?
Real talk: putting almost any lifeform in to too-small an enclosure, with too few elements from their natural environs, is a pretty effective way to make their lives more miserable and get the least-interesting experience out of appreciating them.

French being technically my 2nd language (as a little one in Bruxelles), let’s go with a very catchy song that features… some pretty hilarious French. XD

This is useful when a person seems pretty reasonable overall, but has some hangup upon particular issues. Actually it’s incredibly common IMO, starting with myself. 😅

The bubbles and balloon-land ones are some pretty interesting ideas. Reminds me how in the arts, kids’ art can often be amazingly creative and fascinating.
Btw, I posted this to my community a couple months ago:

Bordel !
If only my dumb arse could learn from people like you. 😑

How is that lunatic still in the political mix? oO

Awesome bit of digging! I’d never seen those earlier strips of his, and I’ve seen a lot of comics in my life.
Garfield is bored, John is emotional, Garfield is bored
That’s indeed one of the strip templates that renders Garfield almost unreadable to me. One character’s completely absorbed in laziness, jadedness and aloofness, and one character is completely, inanely over the top as a counterpoint. That generally doesn’t entertain me, and I can’t relate to them, but then that’s just me.

The theory of biological evolution? 😯
I believe they make that sound out of both excitement and frustration. And yes, they very much want to catch and kill.
I love cats, but they’ve been pretty terrible for the environment at times. They’re too efficient as little murder machines.
I see your point, but I think I tended to aim for a middle ground of sorts. For example, a big reason I fell in love with PKD’s stuff is because he relentlessly imagined realities in which some new tech(s) was added to the mix, then we imagined how that would play out in real life. The tech didn’t need to be super-grounded in science, just something plausible. Which more or less bypassed the kind of conundrum you’re proposing.
Btw, I’m not sure I agree about Star Wars completely bypassing plausible science. The unique idea there ( The
SchwartzForce ) is fairly consistently explained in metaphysical terms, not unlike levels of consciousness that can be unlocked by dedication to meditation and certain martial arts. That sort of thing, anyway. There was also the later pseudo-science idea about “midichlorians” being analogous to mitochondria, FWIW. Perhaps better explained in some of the novelisations and other works, I guess. I didn’t really see the need for all that myself, but I guess it may have satisfied some folks’ burning curiosity.
