Linux@programming.dev•Linux kernel maintainer says Al has suddenly become useful for devs: 'We can't ignore this stuff. It's coming up, and it's getting better"
1·11 hours agoi don’t have a wacom tablet to test, sorry. generally all seems to work, graphics driver seem to be ported over from linux and synced to latest periodically. it might be better because i never have the latest hardware…
indeed most things should just work after recompiling, but with freebsd’s great linux compat you can just run docker containers for example.

1·1 day agoi usually use freebsd (haven’t tried openbsd yet…) and its linux binary compat is almost perfect, it surprisingly just works for most things although there are some rough edges as a desktop.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the deal with people liking old devices?
3·6 days ago- they are affordable (better to play with 10 different old devices than 1 new device, isn’t costly when you break it)
- usually more tinkerable (older devices tend to be more modular or easier to repair, only older iphones can be jailbroken, android custom rom scene is basically dead now, etc)
- fun to make old shits do near impossible stuff (like overclocking a pentium 4 for giggles)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a gender neutral honorific for non-binary folk?
2·6 days agohonestly i’m not sure lol
you’re right but that’s mostly in the context of students referring to their teachers, i had the impression it’s quite different from the way it gets used as a second person pronoun or as a way of showing respect to someone.
Also, and genuinely curious here, what is used for “teacher” in a school setting? But if a teenager said their teacher sucks what word would they use?
선생님 is the primary way of refering to teachers, but if one’s being rude they might as well say “선생” (without the “님”) or their name, nickname, etc…
english isn’t my primary language so i’m not sure if my comment makes sense lol

i don’t use the internet much with the phone, and the OS isn’t that outdated since i don’t use the stock rom. it’s also trivial to install new certs.
you can install a treble GSI version of LineageOS, some hardware features may not work though.
LG G2 (2013) with LineageOS
imma use it till 2038, i even have spares

discord doesn’t need phone numbers but forbids 3rd party client implementations. telegram needs phone numbers and mandates their proprietary client for registration.
imo they’re both equally bad lol
