Ai being shoved into everything has a problem that even pro ai individuals can probably agree on: you have no control on what the ai is or what it’s supposed to do. It will be biased in favor of whomever is shoving it at you. The only ai you can trust is the service you chose, better yet something self hosted.

There is exactly one place where I want ai: in its browser window that’s directed at the service of my choice (ideally something self hosted).

I don’t want an ai sidebar.

I don’t want ai search summaries.

I don’t want ai assisted shopping.

I don’t want ai snooping in my photo gallery.

I don’t want ai in my emails.

And I don’t want to watch other people’s slop. I can prompt my own, fuck off.

You’re solving the wrong problem. An email was deleted without the user hitting delete. It should be for the user to decide when to delete an email, not microsoft.

I’m going to argue that how you use the lying machine determines if it’s slop, not if you use it.

“Generate a character profile for Alexander the blacksmith.” Slop.

“Ask me questions about Alexander the blacksmith so I can further develop his character.” Not slop.

“Summarize everything I explained about Alexander the blacksmith in the format of a wiki article.” Could be slop, might not be, depends on how diligent you were about not letting the lying machine have creative control. Needs to be reviewed for accuracy of course.

And for the record, I was a DM for years before generative ai was a thing. Running a campaign is ton of work, even with shortcuts. Don’t insult your DM like this.

I’ve noticed both the pro ai and anti ai camps become increasingly hostile to each other, and if you’re like me and have a nuanced opinion then you get lumped into the other camp.

Depends on what character I’m wanting to develop at the time, but yeah, a lot of my oc’s are women (although not necessarily female). I like to use the game as inspiration for lore. When I played cyberpunk 2077, I already had a character named V who’s a cyborg rabbit girl, so it was close enough to perfect.
