  • You kind of answered your own question. But yeah, the job of the FCC under the Trump Regime is to help corporations / the rich grift and steal as much from American citizens as possible. This change furthers the ability of both Trump and the ruling class of oligarchs to do just that.

    If the FCC members play along, they might benefit from some of the corruption personally. If not, they will be publicly bullied and/or replaced. Trump operates as if he is a mob boss.

    This concerted effort to rob our people is a large part of what the DOGE firings aimed to achieve in the beginning of the regime’s 2nd term - get rid of anyone who would protest, and definitely get rid of all the watchdogs (inspectors general) whose job it was to ensure this doesn’t happen. It is no coincidence that at the same time the press is manufacturing consent for this repeal, Starlink is preparing to tack on massive amounts of fees for its users.

  • This is why it needs further consideration imo. To me, that comma means that these are the criteria for presidency once the constitution is adopted.

    If it means citizen at the time of adoption, would they not have omitted the comma to make it more clear?

    You know what, I stand corrected and learned more about this today. There was a case Hassan v. State of New Hampshire (2012) which already examined this and established natural born isn’t repealed by the 14th, plus some debates by Congress around the time the 14th passed that firms up that interpretation. I still think that comma is sus though.

  • Ok but why is that the consensus interpretation? Do you think there might be some racial bias there which should be reexamined by the courts? I do.

    I’m glad you agree with my interpretation of the 14th, because that is actually the part that is considered more up for debate.

    I still don’t think you’ve read the relevant portion of article 2, so let me provide it for you here:

    1.5 No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President;

    a citizen of the United States

    Can you explain to me why this “isn’t enough”?

  • The man pictured being arrested is Sean Strickland, a current champion of his weight class in the UFC. He was supposed to attend the event as a spectator, but had his invitation revoked about a week ago due to publicly criticizing Israeli genocide and Israel’s control over US politics. (It’s unclear whether Strickland has a meaningful moral compass or if he is simply reading the room and saying what he can for social media engagement, my guess is the latter but that’s aside from the point.) Strickland decided not to waste his flight ticket and went to the event anyway as a form of protest, showed up and started riling the crowd up a bit before the event started, and then got arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

    As someone else pointed out he wasn’t actually wearing the Epstein shirt, but he has criticized the Epstein coverup in addition to Israeli meddling recently.

  • The way he answered the question, translated to English from dipshit, sounded to me like he was trying to say he likes where the number is and thinks it’s healthy for the economy; ie, downplaying fears.

    The actual response just comes off as completely out of touch though, which he is. It’s also something no sane politician would dream of saying under any circumstances.

    I too am looking forward to the ensuing mental gymnastics by the sycophants and pundits to try and spin this one. Frankly I don’t think it matters - Israel isn’t letting him pull out of the war, and staying in it will absolutely wreck the economy. I predict that once that pain extends to the oligarchs in any meaningful way, Trump will perish under mysterious circumstances explained away by old age and bad health. Then Vance can begin his run in earnest by trying to pump the brakes on Israeli colonization and land theft. Good luck to him I guess, he’s gonna need it.

  • Yeah they’re trying to go after Platner for alleged sexting too. Still trying to Anthony Weiner style cancel these politicians, when we literally have Mr. “grab em by the pussy”, convicted and not just hearsay mind you, elected twice. The moral right is as ridiculous as it is hypocritical, who gives a shit.

    If their partners have a problem with it then that’s between them to figure out, I don’t see how it affects their politics at all. Certainly didn’t matter for notorious playboy JFK, and doesn’t matter with convicted orange rapist either.
