That’s also true. If I remember correctly, when I was in Sweden 10 years ago, there were such refill stations in a normal supermarket. So it’s definitely possible for certain products!

I once bought something at one of these stores. Was in need for a specific kind of sugar for a recipe and they had it. Honestly it’s probably mostly failing on price point and convenience, because a) most of the products they sell are organic and high quality; so more expensive and b) you have to know what you want to buy beforehand so you can bring your own containers… Also the store was in an awkward location and not well advertised.

9·17 days agoThat chart is not about “AI smart glasses” (the ones with cameras and such), but about actual glass that has some “smart” functionality inside. Such as dimming or going opaque on command. So kinda relevant to this discussion.

Ah, so that’s why they’re called cock-tails…
Or donate it for good causes. Honestly spending a billion dollars (let alone 7) is really hard, if you’re not buying companies or land. It’s just that an obscene amount of money.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtubers did you drop, And what caused you to do so?
5·1 month agoYeah a real shame with channels like smarter everyday. Although for some there may be a way back the way things are going in the US, if they have at least a little bit of empathy and intelligence that is.
But more poor people means more mindless consumers, which means more profits. And if we know one thing, it’s that what the ultra rich want most, is be more rich. They are hoarders after all. And they couldn’t concentrate more wealth onto them, if there’s no one to take wealth away from. Or maybe that’s hypothetical doesn’t really work ;)
Why would they want so few people to oppress and exploit?

This can absolutely also happen in a place like Germany. Yes, no one really has a truck for personal use (or rather a box truck), but you know a guy who knows a guy that has a truck for his business and doesn’t need it on the weekend, et voila. Maybe it’s not that extreme, but especially for ‘poorer’ working class people, helping out is still essential even in Germany.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are there so many adult children out there in the world?
5·1 month agoI dunno. Probably lots of lead poisoning, micro plastics crossing the blood-brain-barrier, other harmful stuff in our city-atmospheres and of course social media (for “old” folks facebook, for young people Instagram and tiktok). All of has fried our collective brains and tendencies for what you described increase because of it. But maybe that’s just an excuse to ascribe what’s wrong with people to something external.

Only if so many military personnel would not be MAGA… So not gonna happen.
