Yeah, it could just as easily be used to distribute small pieces of the remaining work amongst the masses and give everyone very small jobs that pay a lot. It’s not the tool, it’s how you use it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Trying to flash 256GB image to almost 256GB flash drive, space is barely not enough!
3·11 days agoTo be fair, 256! is about 8.5781777534 × 10⁵⁰⁶. Lots of numbers are less than that.
I’ve gotten up really early and played video games for a few hours and the saw a touch of light in the sky and panicked because it looked like evening and I thought I’d spent the whole day gaming and missed my afternoon flight, but actually it was just the sun coming up.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What Youtubers did you drop, And what caused you to do so?
25·15 days agoI do try to enjoy Tom Scott because he puts effort into his content, it’s usually educational, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
But I feel that cringe element too. For me it has to do with the fact that he has such an ingratiating personality. He just wants so badly to ensure that everyone and everything is appreciated to the fullest extent and he’s made completely sure no one can take anything in the wrong way. And that’s a lovely attitude to have in life, but as a presentation style it also feels a bit exhausting. I still watch his videos, but in small doses. There’s only so much well-intentioned earnestness I can take in one sitting.

Agreed - both because of the incredible craftsmanship, and because they said Count the Rice several more times.
Same, I watched it once, and then watched it again as a drinking game where I took a little sip of wine every time they said Count the Rice. Good episode of television.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it reasonable to tell a person you once loved about the fact years later?
7·1 month agoAdditionally, even if there is no reciprocation expected, from their perspective, they will think this is in the hopes of reciprocation. And the more OP tries to convince them it’s not, the less convincing it will be. That kind of contact, regarding feelings from the past, just makes one instantly defensive and apprehensive about the idea that they may soon have to rebuff an advance. Which means finding any excuse to not socialize, respond to texts only minimally, don’t do anything which could feed into the idea that you are getting closer to them which could provoke an advance with underlying expectations and potentially a negative reaction upon rejection. It’s an inherently uncomfortable situation because of that underlying subtext of motive that doesn’t go away with any amount of explanation. There are many routes into so many open hearts out in the world. But this route does not lead to love, platonic or otherwise.
I have one of these that has a tracker in it, so even if my phone dies, I can find both my wallet and my phone.
Also, cannot overstate how selfish you are for not letting them have ANY of the poison under the sink. Would be entirely justified to scream and cry until you learn how to share.
Okay, NOW the egg is cracking.
Trellis the lot of it. What could go wrong?
He will happily estimate how many cashews you have by counting how many cashews you give him and forgetting how many he already counted from time to time.

No, you’re thinking of a vanlion. Common mistake. A villain is actually a large, luxurious country house or estate.
